After seven years of dating musician, actor and entrepreneur Arjun Kanugo tied the knot with South African model, interior designer and content creator – Carla Dennis. Hosting their wedding was The Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai where the couple got hitched in a traditional Hindu ceremony. Brimming with desi hues and rituals, this cross-cultural wedding was a thing of beauty.
How They Met
Musician, actor and entrepreneur, Arjun Kanugo first met Carla Dennis while shooting for his music video in which Carla played a central role. For them, it was love at first sight and as time flew by, seven years, to be precise, their bond just kept getting stronger.
The Proposal
Giving Carla a pretext of a work assignment Arjun surprised her by popping the question during a sunset cruise in Dubai. And, to make it even more special her engagement ring was encrusted with his grandmother’s diamond with ‘Ek is lief vir jou’ (‘I love you’ in Afrikaans) engraved inside the band as a nod to Carla’s South African heritage.

From a light-hearted cheery mehndi to a plush wedding decor dotted with tropical elements, their union was nothing short of a dream come true.

Mehndi
The mehndi was a colourful affair in which the South African Carla embraced her desi side by donning a beautiful lehenga which she paired with floral jewellery. Apart from the outfits, the treats served at the mehndi were also quintessentially desi with chaat reigning supreme and delighting everyone’s tastebuds.
Weddings
For the wedding at The Taj Mahal Palace, the couple kept it intimate yet spectacular. Wearing contrasting hues, Carla in red and Arjun in white, they made a striking picture against the tropical foliage-filled backdrop which was planned by the bride herself! Two female priests officiated the traditional Hindu wedding and also translated the rituals for Carla’s side of the family. Overall, the wedding was an intimate affair with their close, loved ones who mingled freely with each other.
Cocktail- Neuma
Bringing the celebrations to a glamorous close was a cocktail celebration at a posh restaurant in Colaba where the couple threw a grand party. In the beginning, Carla looked stunning in a pristine white saree and as the night progressed, she changed into a glitzy black strapless gown to take the dancefloor by storm with Arjun.
