Lee Elton and Arunoday Singh
Actor Arunoday Singh, grandson of veteran Congressman Arjun Singh married his sweetheart, Canadian restaurateur, Lee Elton in an opulent, private ceremony in Bhopal.
He calls her his ‘Queen’ and drove his lady-love around his sprawling estate in a vintage Cadillac after their starry wedding ceremony. The actor met Lee at a yoga retreat in Goa and felt an instant spiritual connection. Sparks flew and the kept in touch. After shuttling between Goa and Mumbai, the gorgeous couple decided to tie the knot in a very traditional Hindu ceremony at Singh’s ancestral home in Bhopal.
Mehndi, Haldi and Sangeet
The three day celebrations were hashtagged #DayLeeAffair. All the festivities, including the mehndi, sangeet and shaadi were conducted in Bhopal in a close-knit event. The day started with a small haldi ceremony attended by only the immediate family, including the bride’s who had flown in from Canada.
At the mehndi, the groom’s close friends who include television personalities and celebrities like singer Ankur Tewari, Cyrus Sahukar, newlyweds VJ Yudhishtir Urs and Aditi Mehra, Gaurav Kapur, Vikash Nowlakha, Sarah Jane Dias, Suhaas Ahuja and Sheetal Mallar partied. The bride looked resplendent in a beautiful yellow saree for the mehndi ceremony and then joined the party brigade as they all shook a leg to a rocking party hit list.
Wedding
The ceremony itself was a very traditional Hindu one at the groom’s ancestral home in Bhopal. Lee wore a gorgeous lehenga in deep carmine with heavy zardozi embroidery, perfectly complementing Arunoday’s shiny white sherwani.
The entire wedding was organized by the family themselves and the décor was handled by the groom’s younger sister, Akriti, who decorated the mandap with white flowers and floating lamps to give it a dreamy feel. The photography was handled by Arunoday’s other sister, Ambika, a New York based photographer who captured the couple beautifully.
The rather traditional baraat was enlivened by the addition of Arunoday’s pack of handsome dogs who were truly man’s best friend that evening.
Reception
The grand reception, hosted at the Shivrajpur Palace in Bhopal was simply beautiful. Fairy lights added to the magic as a drone captured the couple and their guests in candid moments that they will no doubt cherish for a lifetime. The couple shared a kiss at the stroke of midnight and then the wedding celebrations continued into the wee hours of the morning.
