Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa Paul, Chandigarh

Critically acclaimed Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao made headlines on the 15th of November as he tied the knot with long-time girlfriend and actress Patralekhaa Paul. The couple has been in a relationship for the past eleven years and to celebrate their union they opted for New Chandigarh where their industry friends and loved ones flew down to wish them a happy married life.

Even though the duo first crossed paths while working together, national award-winning actor Rajkummar Rao was smitten the first time he saw Patralekha on-screen in a commercial. However, love took its time to bloom as both of them struck up a close friendship while working on the same project. And throughout the years, their bond only grew stronger and transformed into love as they supported each other through the struggles of making it in Bollywood. Opting for a close-knit celebration, the couple got hitched at The Oberoi Sukhvilas Spa Resort, a serene property located at the Himalayan foothills that is encircled by over 8,000 acres of protected natural forest.

Two days before the traditional Indian wedding, the couple decided to host a white wedding where they also exchanged rings, a video of which created waves online. Rajkummar, dressed in a white bandh gala and matching sneakers, went down on one knee to present a ring to his lady love Patralekhaa, who in turn, also kneeled down to present him with a ring! Cheered on by their loved ones as they exchanged rings, the couple celebrated the moment by waltzing to the romantic tunes of ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran. Dressed in a stunning silver handcrafted Kasab corset with a flowy side-slit white skirt with a long train, the bride was truly a vision. Completing her dreamy outfit was a delicate sheer veil with a heavy silver border. Accessorizing her look were a pair of matching diamond necklaces and bracelets that twinkled as bright as the dainty fairy lights that peppered their white wedding decor. Additionally, adding a dash of extra glamor to the event were actors Saqib Saleem, Huma Qureshi, and filmmaker Farah Khan.

Additionally, the couple hosted another sunkissed pre-wedding event where Patralekhaa resembled a glamorous mermaid in her bright blue outfit. Consisting of a heavily embellished crop top with pink, green, and yellow accents this Patralekhaa’s outfit was perfect for an outdoor celebration. Paired with a fitted checkered skirt, matching tassel belt, dainty sunglasses, and transparent heels, the bride had a gala time posing for the cameras. Studded with pearl tipped hair pins, her hair was slicked back in a neat braid that reached her hips.

For another one of her pre-wedding events, Patralekhaa looked graceful in a romantic pre draped saree with an exaggerated pallu. With a circular bag dangling from her wrist, diamond accessories and versatile nude heels, this look was a perfect fusion of Indian and western aesthetics. Her groom, on the other hand, chose to keep it simple in a light yellow kurta set with gold-rimmed, tinted sunglasses.

The bride also rocked a signature organza hand painted one shouldered floral dress with acid green heels. In this look, the dress took the spotlight as Patralekhaa kept her makeup natural and dewy.

Unleashing her inner fashionista, Patralekhaa made the temperature soar in the daring infiloop bikini paired with a fringed Paneyo skirt and a saf choker. Acessorising this look was a pair of sleek sunglasses and a compact sling bag.

Keeping fun and relaxation at the top of their list, Rajkummar and Patralekhaa’s pyjama party was glitzy yet comfy! Decorated with metallic elements and hosted under the stars, the party witnessed everyone letting their hair down as they danced the night away. Seen majorly in traditional wedding outfits so far during their festivities, the couple took the fashion world by surprise with their sartorial outfit choices for the event. Dressed in a custom Amit Aggarwal pyjama set with a metallic structured cape which was paired with a moulded bustier, the bride couldn’t stop smiling! Adding a touch of bling to her look was her open hair that had strands of rhinestones running through it. And, to finish off the look, the bride also sported a pair of shimmery mules. In tandem with Patralekhaa, Rajkummar also opted for a custom made, electric blue Amit Aggarwal outfit that consisted of a handpainted and woven biker jacket which were paired with drop crotch pants and a pair of sneakers.

Hosted under the open sky under a mandap decorated with marigolds, fairy lights, and delicate white blooms, Rajkummar and Patralekhaa’s wedding was traditional yet simple. Dressed in a raw silk ivory jacket with gold-plated Bengal tiger buttons, a silk kurta, and churidar which was accessorized with a layered necklace of cultured Japanese pearls, Rajkummar kept his outfit simple with a red turban adding a pop of color.

The bride, on the other hand, was a showstopper in a bright red tulle embroidered butti saree designed by famed designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. True to her Bengali roots, Patralekhaa’s bridal attire also consisted of red and white shankha pola bangles and alta that stained her palms. However, it was her special dupatta that was the center of attention with the phrase penned by Sabyasachi himself which said ‘I am submitting you my heart full of love’ embroidered on the border in Bangla.

On the makeup front, Patralekhaa chose to keep it light and simple with an understated pout and a traditional chandan design dotted over her eyebrows. Accessorizing her look was jewellery crafted out of 22k gold and diamonds with a kundan encrusted mathapatti, a statement nath, kundan studded jhumkas, a necklace, heavy gold balas, and a statement ring.

After the wedding, the couple mingled with their guests at an open-air reception that was adorned with warm yellow fairy lights and rustic cane lanterns. Attended by their Bollywood friends and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, the event was a glamorous one. Dressed in a cream and gold zari brocade saree, Patralekhaa radiated joy and kept herself warm with a beautiful shawl while Rajkummar looked dapper in a dark blue velvet suit.
