Sagarika Ghatge and Zaheer Khan, Taj Mahal Palace Mumbai

Life imitated art when the ‘Chak De’ girl Sagarika Ghatge fell in love with cricketer Zaheer Khan.

The country is passionate about two things – Bollywood and Cricket; so naturally, a marriage between the two fields is going to garner a lot of interest! And it’s adorable that the ‘Chak De’ girl who romances a cricketer in the movie as well, fell for a cricketer in real life.

Bollywood actress Sagarika Ghatge and former cricketer Zaheer Khan have been together for the longest time and marriage has been on the cards for a while. The two opted for a fuss-free registered marriage but their other wedding functions -the mehndi and the star-studded reception – exuded grandeur.

To the civil ceremony, Sagarika wore a gorgeous Sabyasachi red silk saree with an embroidered blouse by the same designer. All smiles for the paparazzi, the new bride opted for a heavy statement choker necklace, earrings and bangles to go with the look. We had trouble peeling our eyes off the stunning bride, but Zaheer Khan managed subtle desi swag in a soft pink self-printed kurta.

At the reception later in the day, Sagarika wore a gorgeous pink lehenga and she looked radiant in the Faabiiana design that felt summery and light, accessorizing with neutral jewellery: earrings, choker, rani haar and maang tika.

With the low-key official nuptials out of the way, Sagarika and Zaheer celebrated their union on a grand scale. They’d already begun the party with a pre-wedding function for their close friends. Here, Sagarika looked every bit the silver screen princess in a stunning customized outfit by Falguni and Shane Peacock.
