This intimate, organic wedding hosted at the bride’s ancestral home in hilly Himachal, proudly celebrated their love and their roots.
Known for movies such as Dil Dhadakne Do, Haseen Dilruba and the upcoming Love Hostel, Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey tied the knot with his long term girlfriend Sheetal Thakur in an intimate ceremony at the bride’s family home in Himachal Pradesh. While several candid moments of the celebrations were shared by friends and family on social media, the couple posted their official pictures shot by WeddingSutra Favorite – Shutterdown a couple of days later with matching instagram posts in Hindi that read, “Our seven-year-long journey has turned into a bond for seven lives, thank you for being with us during this journey”.
While the celebrations were attended by only family and close friends including actor Sumona Chakravarti, many B-town colleagues and friends wished them love and happiness on Instagram, notably Tapsee Pannu, Bobby Deol, Esha Gupta, Sonakshi Sinha, Mouni Roy, Kriti Kharbanda, Nakuul Mehta, Aditya Narayan and more.
The couple wanted their wedding to reflect their respective roots with intimate functions that featured all organic and eco-friendly decor including locally sourced flowers to ‘Dham’, a traditional feast celebrating Himachali heritage. The festivities began with a cozy Mehndi function that saw vibrant decor and warm family moments. Sheetal kept it comfy and classic with a simple silk suit in an interesting rust hue.
The Haldi function framed their pure moments of joy and celebration with a minimal decor of white and pink flowers to elevate the surrounding greenery. A foliage wall decked with arrangements of rattan and flowers made for a quirky backdrop at the ceremony where the couple was doused with haldi and tons of love. Vikrant kept it elegant with an ivory kurta and bandi jacket set, while Sheetal looked radiant in a vivid yellow lehenga.
The Choora ceremony was a simple, traditional home affair. Sheetal wore a bright red silk suit for the occasion as seen in the endearing pics she shared with the caption, ‘Making of a Himachali bride’. What really caught our attention was the stunning gold jewelry she wore that included traditional Himachali bridal ornaments that she would carry on to wear for the nuptials.
The Wedding ceremony saw minimal decor of marigolds that set a serene ambience for the occasion. The mandap featured eco-friendly decor of terracotta bells and locally sourced flowers, while the familiar canopy of multi-colored flags often seen criss-crossing the hilly areas are also seen in pictures shared by the couple of their Varmala. Sheetal looked every bit the traditional Indian bride in a red and gold lehenga which Vikrant complemented with a cream sherwani.
The couple met in 2015 and soon started dating while simultaneously shooting for the web series ‘Broken But Beautiful’ where Sheetal played the role of Vikrant’s late wife. While they had an engagement in 2019, their wedding got delayed by the Pandemic before they finally tied the knot with a registration and traditional ceremony this year.
