Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, Milan, Italy
Virat and Anushka married in a picture-perfect ceremony at Borgo Finocchieto, in Tuscany
Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma have tied the knot, after weeks of speculation that they were getting hitched, in a beautiful wedding ceremony in Italy planned by WeddingSutra Favorite Shaadi Squad. An official announcement of the wedding was made in the evening of December 11, hours after the duo tied the knot.
Virat and Anushka said their wedding vows in a gorgeous villa, Borgo Finocchieto, in Tuscany in a traditional Indian wedding attended by less than 50 guests. The couple met in 2013 while shooting a commercial. After a brief period of ups and downs, the Virat confirmed his feelings for his lady love when he came to her rescue as Twitter trolls blamed Anushka for Virat’s poor performance in 2015. Since then, the cricketer often posted pictures of him and the NH10 actress on his social media handles, confessing his love!
Anushka looks resplendent in a pearl-embroidered burgundy-hued velvet Sabyasachi saree, with her hair neatly tied back in a bun, while Virat looks dapper in a blue suit. She wore a stunning uncut diamond and pearl choker with matching studs. The entire look was complemented with kohl-rimmed eyes, red roses, and a microdot bindi.
The duo can be seen exchanging rings in this video as Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud plays in the backdrop.
A picture of Anushka and Virat shows pink as the dominant color at the fun ritual. While Virat sported a bandhgala jacket in pink with white kurta, Nushki, as Virat fondly calls her, was seen in a graphic-print Sabyasachi lehenga in fuchsia pink and Indian orange. It was hand-printed by the famed Calcutta block printers and hand-embroidered with gota and marori. Anushka accessorised herself with earrings from the Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery collection, a stunning pair of jhumkas crafted in 22k gold with Iranian turquoise, tourmalines, uncut diamonds and Japanese cultured pearls. Custom juttis in hand woven brocade and zardosi completed the look. A custom tan leather jutti with a zardosi crest was created for the ensemble.
Anushka went for a simple, yet intricate, mehndi design, while the groom was seen sporting a traditional ‘chaand’ design on his palm.
Virat and Anushka both wore Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s designs for their Indian wedding rituals on the outskirts of Milan. The wedding was a morning affair complete with a jaimala ceremony before the wedding with rose garlands with pink and yellow flowers. Anushka looked ethereal in a pale pink lehenga with Renaissance embroidery in vintage English colours embellished with silver-gold metal thread, pearls and beads. Meanwhile, Kohli looked dapper in a mauve turban and ivory sherwani in raw silk with gold detailing. Hand embroidered in a vintage Benarasi pattern, his sherwani was complete with house buttons.
Anushka’s look, on the other hand, was complete with minimal makeup, nude lips, and kohl-lined eyes. She wore handcrafted heritage jewellery with syndicate uncut diamonds, pale pink spinel and baroque Japanese cultured pearls. A heavy maang tika complemented her simple nathni with two pearls and a precious stone. The actress was also seen wearing a delicate set of chudas complete with kalira and a set of kundan bangles.
Two receptions have been planned — one in Virat’s hometown of New Delhi on December 21, another for friends and colleagues in Mumbai on December 26, 2017.
