Rochelle Rao and Keith Sequeira, Indonesia
It was a castaway honeymoon for this couple.
Who would you like to be marooned on a desert island with? Add some luxury and adventure and this honeymoon has all the feels of being the only two people on earth.
It was an absolute escape for former Miss India Rochelle Rao and her beau, television personality Keith Sequeira. After exchanging their vows by the waterfront at Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu, in a hush-hush ceremony, the duo went incommunicado as they flew away to the quaint island of ‘Gili Meno’ in Indonesia.
Not even their friends or family knew where they were jetting off for their honeymoon. The couple only spilled the beans after they were back home when they shared some of their travel tales on social media. Rochelle says “We wanted to cut off from the outside world from the moment we boarded the flight, so we switched off our phones and electronic devices setting our hearts and minds towards sand and sea.”
In their quest for absolute privacy and an authentic travel experience, they gave staying at luxury properties a miss and decided to opt for an Airbnb. The luxury villa, complete with a lush lawn and a vast swimming pool, was on the beach. Rochelle said, “In our usual style, we chose a homestay to ensure we would get a real taste of the local Indonesian culture. We stayed at a beautiful boutique villa situated right on a white sand beach, just a few feet away from beautiful corals.”
Despite how gorgeous their accommodation was, the lure of adventure was irresistible. Keith says, “’I generally prefer relaxing by the beach but decided to try my wife’s adventurous ways of doing things this time around. She actually managed to convince me to go paragliding. We went scuba diving and also spent hours snorkeling just meters from our villa.” He even posted a video on Instagram with the caption, “For all of you who said you wanted to go snorkeling with me… Here goes!” The adorable video documented their underwater trysts with a wild turtle or “neighbor Bob” as they like to call him.
Keith reminds us all that romance sometimes needs a little switching off – from technology, “Our phones were not reachable and we lived in the moment there. This is definitely one of the best trips we’ve had together and all the more special as we were on our honeymoon.”
