Princess Sophie

Princess Sophie's ring is a 2.05 carat brilliant-cut diamond flanked by two heart-shaped stones designed by Asprey Garrard.

Princess Sophie may look like Princess Diana but there the similarity ends. The 37-year-old former chair and co-founder of public relations firm RJH is the daughter of a Kent tyre-salesman. Sophie Rhys-Jones met Prince Edward in 1993 to discuss a Real Tennis charity evening that he was planning. After their wedding she was given the title Her Royal Highness the Countess of Wessex, shortened to Sophie Wessex.

Princess Sophie’s Engagement Ring
Sophie and Prince Edward’s engagement was announced on January 6th, 1999. When Edward popped the question, however, Sophie was taken by surprise but very happy. “I must’ve caught her on a good day, joked Edward. They had been dating for almost 5 years, and Sophie accepted Edwards proposal with a demure “yes, please”. He then placed the ring on her finger (estimated to be worth around $75,000), a 2.05-carat brilliant-cut diamond flanked by two heart-shaped stones designed by Asprey Garrard.
