How we met
Aashna met Sheekher in London right after she got done with college. He was doing his MBA and she was coming back from her Design School. After 2 years of courtship, Sheekher whisked her off to Sri Lanka in March, 2017 and popped the question! This couple loves the beach and this memory was just about perfect to cherish for the rest of their lives.

Wedding Planning
Aashna shares, “We started planning in March and since then we’ve had our Roka and Engagement ceremony. We started planning 6-8 months ahead of the big day. When you work in the wedding industry, you know all the challenges that come with the planning, hence we wanted to start as early so that there was no last minute.”

Wedding Venue
“We looked at different destinations such as Thailand, Goa and Sri Lanka but considering convenience and travel, we finalized on Goa. Once the destination was finalized, we started looking out for properties. We had listed all the details to be checked before shortlisting any and this list included – number of rooms offered by the resort, dates available, number of guests to accommodate etc. Finally, we chose the Grand Hyatt Goa because it offered everything we were looking for.”

Wedding Functions

Mehndi
The mehndi was a small outdoor affair for family members and friends who arrived at the destination a day prior to the bigger functions. The decor was colorful with candles hanging and a quirky mini bar was set up. The venue was decorated with colossal flowers in the shades of white, pink and purple. Aashna looked resplendent in a beautiful lehenga designed by her mother.

House Party
The festivities kicked off with an intimate house party at Aashna’s beautiful house in Goa. The décor elements were simple yet sophisticated with a lot of floral details and lights that illuminated the vibe of the party!

Sangeet
It was the most fun-filled and colorful event of all. The décor had elements that included shiny disco balls and sparkly lights. This event put all the guests into the mood with its joyous wedding vibe. There were also talented performers that entertained the guests followed by a dance performance by the couple. A ‘kissing booth’ added a quirky touch to the décor and served as a photo booth for the guests.

Haldi
While the ‘haldi’ (turmeric application) ceremony traditionally takes place in two separate locations; this couple set theirs up together. That way, family, and friends didn’t need to pick a side and were able to smear the couple both with haldi. Their friends and family did not hold back.

Wedding
The decor for this outdoor ceremony was both effortless and minimal. It was modern but with a strong sentimental touch. The couple wanted it to be very personal and curated just for them – right from the colors, to the flowers and the vibe! Aashna shares, “I wanted to create an identity for the wedding and hence everything has been personalized. We wanted a very natural/moody floral arrangements for the ceremony. Small pops of deep colors with greenery and fresh bright tones were the highlight. For my wedding, I chose to shop from boutiques designers in Delhi because I didn’t want to go for any big brands. I picked my jewellery from local designers.”

Reception
The enchanted forest themed décor of the reception looked like something straight out of a fairytale. The décor entirely red florals and touch of greens which complemented the couple’s glitzy golden ensemble. Guests enjoyed the foot-tapping music and dancing, alongside the delectable food.”
