How they met
Physician Assistant Aditi Acharya and Product Manager Sidhartha Sinha met in their first year at Georgia Tech through a mutual friend. They felt an instant connection and became good friends, often spending time together despite very different schedules. They bonded over their shared love of Bollywood movies, similar upbringings and interests, and stayed connected intermittently throughout the course of their college degree, and even after it ended. Over never-ending conversations and Facetime calls over anything and everything after they graduated in 2015, they both knew they felt something more. For Aditi’s birthday, Sidhartha offered to take her on a trip anywhere she wanted, and she chose Montreal, where he confessed his feelings.

The Proposal
A couple of years into the relationship, the couple decided to travel to India in December of 2018 to visit their respective grandparents, and decided to stop over in Dubai for a couple of days. While in Dubai, Sidhartha popped the important question with an enchanting boat proposal at sunset, after which they celebrated with a few friends and enjoyed a private dinner on the beach with a view of the iconic Burj Al Arab. However, the biggest surprise was yet to unfold. When they arrived in Delhi that night, all of their family members awaited them for an engagement celebration, much to Aditi’s awe.

Wedding Venue
Aditi and Sidhartha both dreamed of a grand palace wedding and decided on the city of lakes for the ultimate royal celebration with all their friends and family, many of whom were travelling from abroad. After visiting a few venues, they chose the iconic heritage properties of Taj Fateh Prakash Palace and Shiv Niwas Palace Hotel for most of their festivities. The wedding and Reception were hosted at the island palace of Jagmandir.

Wedding Planning
Planning a wedding from across the world, they chose the team of Desert Pearl Entertainment to design and manage every last detail to perfection and bring their vision to life. Relying on their local knowledge, a strong network of vendors, extensive experience, and unhindered creativity helped ease the process for them. They share, “We wanted our wedding planning team to know us so they could make the hundreds of small decisions on our behalf and consult us for the bigger aspects. Looking back, we can say with complete confidence that picking Desert Pearl Entertainment was the best decision we made. Despite Covid delays and conversations over WhatsApp from half a world away, they understood the essence of everything we wanted and delivered beyond our expectations. When we walked into our first event, the Mehendi, we were blown away. Having seen designs on paper, it was incredible to see them come alive in person. Our guests were mesmerized and so were we. They also exceeded expectations in guest management, perfectly handling all hospitality and logistics for our guests who flew in from around the world. They even planned tours and experiences to help them make the most of their visit. They have a phenomenal team whom we would recommend to anyone considering a wedding in Rajasthan.”

Wedding and Reception
The wedding and reception ceremonies were hosted at the iconic floating island venue of Jagmandir. The elegant wedding decor in a soft pastel palette infused the lush surroundings with a sense of tradition and tranquility, while the mandap looked divine against the shimmering waters of Lake Pichhola and the regal beauty of the palaces beyond. The guests were ferried to the location in boats in a baraat entry that was as memorable as it was fun, the dhol music and dance setting up the stage for the sunset ceremony, which was followed by a classy Reception dinner.

The magical candlelit decor with blooms, sleek metallic structures, and regal table settings transformed the space for the evening. The bride changed into an ivory and gold lehenga for the occasion, while the groom swapped out his traditional sherwani for a royal blue bandhgala. The night saw cake-cutting, rousing toasts, dancing, and fireworks.

Advice for couples
“Planning a wedding can seem overwhelming with the hundreds of small and big decisions to make. However, what can help is to decide your goals and expectations with your partner before starting anything. Focus on what’s truly important to both of you. Also, find a wedding planning team that is willing to learn about who you are and what’s important to you, and rely on them to make the many smaller decisions. One of the biggest pieces of advice that we can offer is to not stress over every little detail.

Also, live in the moment with your partner. Weddings move so quickly, and so much is happening. But if you actively spend a few moments with your partner, either during an event or at the end of it, before getting ready for the next event, it makes a big difference. During those moments, just take a few minutes to reflect on how wonderful it is to have your family and friends celebrating your dream wedding, and how amazing it is to live this moment with your future life partner.”
