How We Met
“Anay and I met in 2011 when our common friends invited us to play squash and badminton together. We hit it off right away and have only grown closer since. We used to explore the city together which had very little to offer in terms of social spaces and entertainment options. That gave us a chance to be as creative with our time as desired. Soon, we knew that we could no longer be apart. Even today when we think about it, it feels so natural and the only obvious choice. But we knew we had to sort out our personal lives, aspirations, and dreams. We decided to tell our parents about our relationship and they too realized our love for each other. Anay and I share the same idea of being present in the moment and the beauty of memories. So he proposed to me during one of our little adventures exploring the faraway forests and landscapes. And that one ‘Yes’ from my side had led us to this new, beautiful phase of our lives together.”

Wedding Venue
“The Royal Cliff Grand Hotel in Pattaya, Thailand, proved to be a perfect venue for a grand destination wedding. We had our closest family members, friends and well-wishers joining in on our celebrations. We said our vows in the middle of the night, under the stars with the ocean in the backdrop, and our families in the front. It was just perfect!”

Wedding Functions

Mehndi
“The mehndi was one of the first functions of our wedding, and it was one of the best ones where our guests were all dressed up and ready to party and kick-start the celebrations. The event had a white decor theme which enhanced all the other colors we were wearing. There were cute white umbrellas strung from wires as quirky decor elements, a DJ, fun games, massage therapists, a portrait artist and other entertainers at this event. We also had our wedding hashtag #Alyshaan created and decorated with beautiful flowers. The best part was when Anay and I both made an entry in an ATV (All Terrain Vehicle). It was one of my wild desires to make such an entry at my wedding. ”

Sangeet
“This event featured more red and black accents inspired by Moulin Rouge. The ladies were all in cocktail dresses grooving to the music on the floor. The after party was a lot of fun with some of the best singers and performers entertaining all of us, and our families came together to dance and welcome us both. I wore a beautiful pastel ruffled gown with sequins by Shantanu & Nikhil, and Anay wore a striking all-black ensemble with a fitted jacket and dhoti-style trousers.”

Bachelor’s Party
“This bash had a laboratory theme and the caterers wore laboratory coats. The food and drinks were served in innovative ways matching the theme and it was the perfect time to unwind and enjoy the music which led everyone to the dance floor.”

Haldi
“This function was one of the most memorable ones where our families applied loads of ‘haldi’ (turmeric) on us! Anay and I also enjoyed this event more as it was so much more intimate. Plus it was the perfect balance of fun and tradition. The dancing that followed is a memory we will cherish forever.”

Pool Party
“The pool party had a beach theme and there were lots of props for everyone to look quirky and have fun. Everyone enjoyed the pool trampolines and delicious food. There were performers who played the drums and even did hula dance with us.”

Wedding
“This was by far the most intense function of our wedding celebrations. Our entries to this significant event were unique as Anay came in a vintage car and I came in a boat. It signified the adventurous journey we had started on together. I wore a beautiful dark blue Rohit Bal lehenga with red and gold accents, and Anay looked handsome in his traditional off-white sherwani and red turban. The ‘varmala’ (garlanding) ceremony was held in the middle of the pool. There was a female musician who played the violin, an instrument that we both love, as she led the way. When it was finally time for the vows, we moved to the stage which was set up under the open skies, against the stunning backdrop of the gorgeous ocean.”

Advice for Couples
“Personally, Anay and I didn’t take any stress of organizing, inviting or arranging anything for our wedding. Our families and friends were supportive and understanding and took the lead on it. This gave us the chance to really relax and enjoy the wedding. I strongly believe that when a couple is getting married they should really focus on enjoying how these little moments come together and leave all the logistics to family and friends. They will always keep in mind all that you desire for your most perfect day and help you have the same. For us, our wedding was more than anything we had imagined or hoped for.”
