Andy and Rashmi – Goa, India

Stone Water Eco Resort, Goa Rashmi and Andy's wedding was an intimate family affair in Goa. Rashmi who is based in the US writes about their destination wedding, the wedding planners, and why Stone Water Eco Resort was the perfect venue.

About Us

Andy and I met through his sister in New York. I work as an Ob-Gyn- I trained in New York City and am now based in Wisconsin as one of the leading Indian Origin Gynecologists in the US. Andy is a History teacher with his Masters in Education. He loves Football and coaches Football and Basketball.

Wedding Venue

We chose Goa because we wanted to get married in India and wanted a tropical location. Through our many previous visits to Goa, we have fallen in love with it, and hence it was our first and only choice.

I came across Stone Water Eco while searching for new venues online. We wanted a small, exclusive resort as our guest size was 50! When I visited Stone Water in person, I was sure this is where I wanted to get married! Located near Bogmalo Beach, the venue was beautiful, lush green and very eco-friendly! Also the major reason for choosing it was its exclusivity and natural beauty.

Wedding Planning

We hired Funky Heads to plan and manage our wedding events. I realized we needed a Goa-based planner when I started facing issues in communicating with Goa-based vendors/ decorators. I was very busy with my own work routine and I couldn’t spend adequate time with the briefs and follow-ups. I found Shruti’s (Partner of Custom Weddings – A Funky Heads Property) details on Facebook. Nisha (owner of Stone Water) recommended her too! And after a few mails and moodboards, we were sure we wanted to work with her.

Overall, our experience with Shruti from Funky Heads was amazing! I was a little particular bride, and initially I had my own ideas. But then I saw Shruti has a good understanding on decor and is great with recommending color combinations, so slowly I began trusting her and soon she was taking more decisions. It would get a little stressful planning and liaising with Shruti from a different time zone. But she was always available on call, had a very personal approach and overall we shared a great chemistry! Also seeing the finished work eventually and enjoying the wedding with all our guests made it all worth it!

Wedding Functions

Our festivities kicked off with a Mehndi, which was colorful with marigold flowers.

We then had our wedding at the jetty area of Stone Water as I always wanted a seaside wedding mandap and thankfully it turned out to be very scenic.

I am Kashmiri and our wedding was held as per Kashmiri rituals.

The finale function was the Reception, which was all white and purple with lots of lights.

Wedding Makers

Photography and Video – I came across Romesh Dhamija’s work and absolutely loved it so he was my first choice for candid photography and video. He and his team were fun to work with and the whole experience was flawless.

Makeup & Hair- Minnette Pereira was great with make-up, so if you are looking for a Goa based make-up artist she is the one I recommend. I felt she made me look really nice and her make-up was quite natural, just what I wanted for the day wedding!

Advice to to-be weds
