Anjali and Nimit, Mahabaleshwar

The festive spirit of Anjali and Nimit's cozy and charming wedding attracted 'Showers of Blessings' for the couple.

From office colleagues to soul mates, Anjali Makhija and Nimit Bhatia tied the knot at a lovely resort in the lush environs of Mahabaleshwar, Maharashtra. Despite surprise showers that caused hurried changes, the celebrations were memorable and went off smoothly, and every moment was captured beautifully by WeddingSutra Favorite – Dreamcatchers Photography. Bride Anjali shares some memories of all the festivities here.

How They Met
When Anjali joined her company a few years ago, little did she know that the guy she sat next to at work would turn out to be her soulmate. Despite being in different teams and having very different interests, they couldn’t deny their instant chemistry, and from the very first time they met, Anjali knew Nimit was meant for her!

The Proposal
On top of a mountain, at sunset, written across the sky – every girl dreams of her perfect proposal, and Anjali was ecstatic when her dream came true. Intimate and simple with no people or cameras around, Nimit got everything right, right down to the exact engagement ring that Anjali had once shown him years ago. He proposed to Anjali on her birthday when they were on a trip to Abu Dhabi with their friends. He picked the perfect private moment and went down on his knee, and of course, it was a happy ‘Yes’ from her side.

Venue
When deciding the venue, Anjali and Nimit realized that they both wanted a cozy wedding outdoors with pleasant weather. Held in April, their wedding was hosted at the Evershine Keys Prima Resort, where Anjali’s father worked as the property manager. Despite having a slightly longer access route, the regal architecture and serene ambience of the resort atop the Western Ghats made for a perfect setting for their wedding.

Wedding Planning
The couple wanted their personalities and the merry moments of the functions to be captured as authentically as possible, and Dreamcatchers Photography did just that. For all her bridal outfits, Anjali met designer Priya Chhabria in Mumbai, and over one brainstorming session at her studio, she finalized all her outfits. All of Nimit’s outfits were similiarly created bespoke for him from a single store – Vavci in Dubai, and they all were designed to match Anjali’s ensembles. Her trousseau shopping was carefully curated from Reet by Bhavna and Shweta, Dubai, and her bridal makeup was done by WeddingSutra Favorite – Kajol Paswwan and her team.

Wedding Functions

Mehendi
With vibrant mirror-work umbrellas, strings of marigolds and roses hanging from above, along with other rustic props featuring splashes of mustard and fuschia hues, the decor at the mehendi was all about vibrant cheer. Tapping their feet to Punjabi drums with fervor, everyone got into the celebratory spirit and had a great time.

Brunch and Sangeet
The poolside brunch saw an elegant setup with lavender and white decor elements. The bride wore a contemporary outfit with flared pants and delicate embellishments, while the groom wore a crisp periwinkle blue blazer and white trousers. The sangeet was supposed to be followed by a brunch just when sudden showers engulfed the venue. The stage, decor, and the rest of the setup was moved indoors efficiently in under three hours, and despite this minor hiccup, everyone had a great time as the dancing, music and laughter got underway.

Wedding
The sunset outdoor wedding was underway, when just before the bride’s entrance, it started to rain. With the resort staff’s efficiency and the cooperation of their friends and family, the ceremony was shifted indoors again. When Anjali made an entry in her peach and red lehenga, and locked eyes with Nimit, they knew that despite all the challenges, they had made it and they were never looking back.

Advice for Couples
“Do not compromise on your outfits, your makeup artist and wedding photographer. They are key in making sure you look and feel your best on your special day. Pick your vendors by identifying their work, not because they are famous. Go with your gut. Lastly, you will relentlessly plan everything to perfection, which is great! But it’s okay for things to not go your way. Keep calm and let go. The issues will eventually make for fun stories.”
