How they met
Hailing from Marwadi Jain families with roots in Rajasthan, Arisht Golecha and Anushka Chordiya were an arranged match who found love in tradition. While their families got along from the first moment, the couple didn’t get off to the best start. It was at their second date that they shed the reservation of formality and bared their true selves, striking a connection as they spent the whole day together. After Anushka returned to her home in Chennai, their conversations only grew, and before long they knew they were ready to begin their lives together. Arisht popped the question with a dreamy proposal on a boat in Kashmir’s Dal Lake, and the two began planning their Big Fat Indian wedding!
The couple envisioned a grand wedding that was full of Bollywood-esque glamor and style but that also stayed true to their Marwadi traditions and Jain beliefs. Hosted at the modern property of Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty, every detail of their festivities was planned and executed to perfection by the team of Beyond The Decor. Led by Nirav, who had always managed the wedding of the groom’s sister, the team adhered to all their requirements to craft an unforgettable celebration for their guestlist of over 700. From the catering that was done entirely from Mumbai, to hospitality for their guests who flew in from around the world, spectacular decor, entertainment, logistics, and more, they handled everything flawlessly.
Their special moments were captured by Movie’ing Moments. The groom shares, “From the moment we got engaged, I set to work finding the perfect team of photographers, and after a lot of research I came upon Movie’ing Moments, and it was the best decision I could have made. The team was extremely dedicated, and completely blended into our celebrations to capture every single moment. For both the pre wedding shoot and the wedding festivities, they made everything so comfortable for us. From their camera angles to their professional approach, everything was great, and I would recommend them to anyone planning their wedding.”
A celebration of epic proportions, the wedding saw a talented team of vendors and artists who came together to make it a resounding success. Angel Performing Arts choreographed spectacular performances for the festivities, DJ Ganesh added his rousing music to take them to the next level, and The Wedding Anchor kept the guests entertained throughout!
The festivities were off to an extravagant start with a welcome party full of neon energy, delicious mocktails, spectacular performances and rousing music. The occasion was bling galore, replete with cage and police for the guests who were deemed “not blingy enough” by the MC, making for a fun addition to the evening. Dancers dressed in “Squid Game” costumes pumped up the guests before the couple who entered to the tune of Bella Ciao from “Money Heist”, decked in bling themselves. Their first dance to Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” was followed by the energising tunes of DJ Ganesh who had everyone dancing into the night.
The next day began with the rituals of Haldi. The couple arrived with an entourage of dancers and drummers to the tune of traditional music as confetti surrounded them, after which they sat in ornate urlis for the ceremony. Their friends and family gathered around them to shower them with turmeric, milk, and love.
The glitz-and-glam of the Sangeet night followed the afternoon Haldi. Topping the previous two couple entries, the bride and groom emerged from a grand pyramid structure as dancers in red-and-black suits and top hats danced to a Bollywood techno song, and the crowd was covered in strobe lights, smoke, bubbles, and confetti. A dramatic proposal was followed by dazzling dance and skit performances by the couple and their loved ones, after which Gurdeep Mehndi and DJ Ganesh took over the night with their rivetting tunes.
The final day began with a bohemian fiesta, a lively laibback soiree with trendy tropical decor and games. Friends of the bride and groom squared off for a movie trivia game, after which everyone enjoyed live music by a band before gearing up for the wedding.
The wedding was imagined with the ornate decor of romantic pink florals that enveloped the majestic ballroom. Off to a grand start with “band, baaja, baraat”, the couple set to take their guests’ breath away once again with their intricately choreographed entrance after a dazzling video introduction and professional dancers kicked off the occasion. Wearing an embroidered white sherwani and bejeweled turban, Arisht arrived with dancers and bearers carrying golden ornaments, while Anushka arrived in a quintessential red lehenga with an entourage of dancers of her own. The couple exchanged varmalas to tumultuous applause and cheers from friends and family, followed by the nuptials.
