How We Met
“We were introduced via our families. Since Sahil was in Mauritius and I was in Mumbai, we spoke on the phone for the first time. After that, we were excited to meet each other the following week in Mumbai. I had butterflies in my stomach before meeting him, and the feeling hasn’t changed even after knowing him for over a year. We met for lunch in November 2016, and we ended up spending the day together. There were sparks between us as well as a connection. After four months of knowing each other, we decided to get engaged in March 2017.”

Proposal
“I was visiting Mauritius for our ‘roka’ and Sahil’s birthday happened to fall on the same date that I was there. On his birthday, we went for lunch to Ile Des Deux Cocos which is on another island in Mauritius. He gave me a rose and a message as soon as I sat in the car and this continued at 30-minute intervals. We were seated for lunch by the sea, and it was a gorgeous setting. Once we were through with our meal, Sahil took me to the roof of the villa and went down on his knee and proposed.”

Wedding Venue
The duo hosted their guests at the Sheraton Hua Hin Resort & Spa, Thailand, which is a beach property situated on the Cha-am beach of North Hua Hin. The property was brought to life with the fun and revelry as well as standout decor for each function.

Wedding Functions

Welcome Dinner
“With an aerialist and singer performing for our guests, we truly commenced our wedding celebrations with a bang. We created an elegant set up using white. From drapes to flowers and even other decorative elements, all were curated in the same color. Sahil wore a red bandi jacket by Avinash Punjabi while I wore a grey Pankaj Nidhi gown. Our entry into the venue was something that our guests appreciated. We walked in, and our family and friends created an aisle and held sparklers while the song ‘Jeena Jeena’ played in the background.”

Pool Party
“For the pool party, we explored a more cheery palette. We used sheer fabrics to let the aesthetic look light and airy. The highlight was the ‘Pool Party’ cut out that was put up in the center of the swimming pool. Flowers, balloons, and dreamcatchers were some of the prominent decor elements. A couple of things that stood out at this function were the flashmob, Sahil’s side of the family wearing green polos with their nicknames printed on the back and our entry on a rickshaw. Sahil wore white pants and a peach shirt by Avinash Punjabi while I opted for a yellow Arpita Mehta ensemble.”

Sangeet
“At our sangeet, we gave our guests a taste of Morocco with decor inspired by Middle-Eastern architecture. A deep blue backdrop with Moroccan design patterns was used for the stage, and other decor elements such as golden Moroccan lamps were used to add to the mood of the evening. All the performances for the night were choreographed by Anisha Thadani. A Ridhi Mehra lehenga was my pick for this event.”

Wedding
“We followed a pastel color scheme for our wedding that was complete with drapes and flowers in complementary shades. I moved away from the traditional red for my bridal outfit and opted for a pale pink lehenga by Tamanna Punjabi Kapoor instead. While I enjoyed every bit of my pheras, the time that I spent with my favorite girls while getting ready gave me some of my most memorable moments. My sister helping me with my dupatta, my friends coordinating their outfit colors with mine and all of us posing for the camera – it was all so much fun!”

Reception
“We wanted the final event of our nuptials to be very glamorous. Golden elements were a big part of our decor. The stage featured large 3D flowers as on the backdrop, and golden vines with leaves were suspended from the ceiling. Chandeliers were used as decorative lighting and helped add to the opulence of the setup. The photo wall too was covered with large 3D flowers making it a dramatic photo op point. The bar with its transparent walls that encased candles and plants was quite eye-catching as well. Our siblings and some of our closest friends gave heartwarming speeches and our videographers put together a recap of the three days so that we could give our guests a small peek into everything that this wedding was about. I wore a wine red gown by Monisha Jaising and Sahil, once again, picked out an Avinash Punjabi creation for himself.”

Advice For Couples
“It is key to get the right wedding planner, and everyone should be on the same page as that’s the most important thing. For outdoor functions, always have a Plan B so that there is no last-minute panic in case the weather changes. Work backward regarding guests invited then look for venues. If you’re planning a destination wedding, pick a place that has direct flights since guests prefer that. So chose someone with whom you connect well You want to enter looking happy, and this helps. Keep all vendors, especially your photographers, updated about the event flow so that they don’t miss out on capturing any special moments. Getting the right host for functions plays an important role in keeping the guests entertained because family is always busy taking care of the guests. Vishaal Rasquinha did a fantastic job for us.”
