How We Met
“Kenton had hired me to work at his office, and after working together for a few years, we forged a close friendship. When we began sending more informal text messages, it became clear to me that he developed a crush on me and I felt the same about him! We started dating secretly and quickly fell in love.”

The Proposal
“After we left the company, we continued our romance up until 2016 when we traveled to Thailand for 10 days and went to the island of Koh Phangan. On the fourth day, Kenton took me to a nearby beach at sunset where a small dinner table was set up in the middle of the sea. I instantly felt Kenton was going to propose and felt nervous as an incoming storm was approaching. He nervously urged me to follow him into the sea and towards the table, but I convinced him otherwise. After all, no one wants to be in the middle of the sea when there is lightning and a large metal pole on the table! An hour later the storm subsided, and we returned to the table. As the sandbank decked with candles appeared again, the atmosphere became romantic. Kenton proposed on my favorite track, ‘Interstellar’ by Hans Zimmer soon after which two fire dancers appeared to entertain us with a beautiful fire show. The evening ended with our friends gifting us a wish lantern to write our wishes on and release it into the sky.”

Wedding Venue
“We decided to get married in Ibiza because we felt connected to the place as individuals and the island’s energy also represented us as a couple very well. The celebrations were scheduled for June so the weather was wonderful. Ibiza is also close to the Mediterranean, where most of our family members stay. It also has direct connectivity to many international hubs and so it was easy to access all year round. The wedding ceremony was hosted at Experimental Beach, Cap d’es Falco, and the reception took place at Can Nefra, Puig d’en Valls.”

Welcome Dinner
“Ibiza is known as the White Isle due to its abundance of white colored architecture. We felt that a welcome dinner, set on the beautiful clifftop boho beach bar that overlooks a stunning sunset would be the perfect opportunity to have everyone dressed in white as an ode to the island. The dinner was relaxed and casual, decorated with tons of candles, seashells and hanging flowers, with the deep Balearic beats setting the right mood.”

Pre-Wedding Awards Show
Our relationship flourished over months working on Hollywood and Bollywood movie sets, and we decided to represent this interactively through a pre-wedding awards show dinner. This was a glamorous event where guests wore suits and gown, and some of the awards presented were ‘Best Dressed’ and ‘Furthest Travelled.’ To add to the fun, the ‘Leading Drama King and Queen’ awards were given to both of us at the end! We even had performances to keep our guests entertained. The decor was inspired by a Bollywood movie with scenes on the streets of Mumbai and was combined with an Oscar-esque dinner setting with mini Oscars on each round table.”

Wedding
“‘Stars aligning for an adventure of a lifetime’ was the theme of our wedding. The decor focused on a mix of old-world explorer style decor with celestial touches, that reflected our journey as a couple. We had cues hinting to the place where we first kissed, our engagement in Thailand and the places where we lived and traveled to. We had the ceremony on the beach to represent when we first kissed and got engaged; the cuisines were from the countries and regions we visited during our relationship. We also invited friends and family to learn about their stars with astrologers and tarot card readers before luring our guests into the ‘jungle’ (a redecorated barn) for raving away into the early hours of the evening.”

Reception
“Our reception wasn’t traditional at all; instead it was like a luxurious music, arts and cultural festival where each food stall was decorated according to their corresponding countries and regions. A lot of performers and artists made the evening more interactive. We had a face paint corner, a glitter stand, a flamenco corner, some belly dancers, and country fair games. The lighting set the perfect mood and helped spice up the guests’ palette and imagination! The main performances were from the British band, The Egg. They had also remixed a live version of our wedding song while an aerial performer hung and danced from a large earth balloon in the sky - it was incredible! Another noteworthy element from our wedding was our five-tier weddings cake with the constellations of our respective signs in LED lights on the top tier.”

Advice for Couples
“Make sure to keep everything very personal because that makes guests feel more included and a part of your journey as a couple. We were surprised at how much positive feedback we received for making sure that every detail was relevant to us and creating an overall theme that gave our loved ones a more personal experience.”
