How We Met
“A common friend introduced us to each other, but our first meeting didn’t translate into a relationship. We were just acquaintances for about five years until one day when we started a conversation. That’s when we truly clicked, and that was the beginning of us. “

Wedding Venue
“We got married at the Rayong Marriott Resort & Spa in Thailand. We always dreamt of having a destination wedding near the beach and a reception in a ‘secret garden’ of sorts, and the venue provided just that. We took over their entire property which had its private beach and beautiful lawns.”

Wedding Planning
“Our wedding was planned by Krishna Patel who runs her wedding planning firm called Krish Events in Thailand. She was flawless with her work and made all of our dreams come true. The very young and talented Devanshi Kapadia who operates under the ‘Beauty by Devanshi’ brand was in charge of my makeup. My hair stylist was Anushka Mulchandani who is also known as ‘The Pocket Stylist.’ To capture our wedding in both photographs and videos, we booked Priyam Parikh Pictures. His team captured our moments beautifully, and whenever I watch the video, it makes me feel like I’m experiencing those magical moments all over again.”

Wedding Functions

Pool Party
“Our wedding was a three-day getaway for all of our closest family and friends which began with a sundowner pool party. The venue for this function was beautiful since it was just by the beach and provided striking views of the sunset. The place was decorated using bright colored drapes. A backdrop was also created using swimming rings and went perfectly with the theme. Pratham and I entered the venue on an All-Terrain Vehicle. The party was followed by a fire show dinner on the beach. We also had a neon after party with a bongo player who played beats in sync with the DJ’s tracks. With a party that went on till wee hours in the morning, we had a fabulous kickoff to our wedding.”

Mehndi
“We had a ‘Thai Mela’ themed mehndi the following afternoon that was hosted on top of a hill and included lots of games and activities for our guests. Inspired by the theme of this function, we had traditional Thai music playing in the background, with authentic Thai food dished out by local street vendors and lots of dancing. We entered on a Vespa with a sidecar like Jai-Veeru of ‘Sholay,’ and I was the one riding the scooter!”

Sangeet
“Our sangeet had a ‘Glitz & Glamour’ theme that gave off a very old-world, ‘Great Gatsby’ vibe. We had a carousel bar and starlit dance floor which made for stunning decor. The team from Flair Mix Company were the mixologists for the evening, and they made some incredible drinks that went with the theme. One of the items they had was candy-like popcorn, which when consumed, lets you breathe smoke out of your mouth! That was something that really stood out and had everyone excited. Pratham entered the venue on a Segway while I arrived in a beautiful pumpkin cart that was decorated with flowers. Our sangeet went on till about 5 am, and we could not stop dancing!”

Wedding
“Our wedding was beautiful like a dream. We got married on the beach in the evening a little after sunset, just when the atmosphere was the most serene. For our ‘varmala’ (garland ceremony), our planners had created a stage in the middle of the pool while the mandap was set up on the sand. Both of these areas looked breathtaking and straight out of a fairytale. I entered on a cycle rickshaw bedecked with flowers, with my very own baaraat and ‘dhol’ (traditional drum) players, while Pratham came in a vintage car. Our baarats merged a little before the venue, and all our guests danced together. At the ceremony, we had a sitar and a tabla player who made music that complemented the sounds of the waves. My wedding dress was very special because I had our names embroidered on it. I wore a custom-made white lehenga, while Pratham opted for a Shantanu and Nikhil sherwani.”

Advice For Couples
“Planning is key when it comes to weddings. If you plan everything, you’ll be able to enjoy your wedding. I planned my nuptials in advance, and the minute I reached the venue, I told myself I’m not going to make any decisions now because I did the best I could. And you know what, I was a very happy bride! Of course, there are small hiccups that come no matter how well you plan, but I truly enjoyed my wedding to the fullest. Secondly, have a concise guest list. I know it sounds impossible, but when you have people who truly come to celebrate you, the vibe and ambiance become electrifying, happy and very positive!”
