How they met
Kesha and Rishi met for the first time 6 years ago at a friend’s party in Vancouver. While Kesha was living in the city, Rishi was in town visiting his sister for the weekend and was reluctant to go to the party. Little did he know he would meet the woman he would end up marrying!

Kesha shares, “I happened to sit exactly across the table from him, and caught him staring at me throughout the night. I was flattered, so I went up to him to ask if he was going to come out with us after. He told me he had an early morning because he had planned to go on a 40km bike ride. At the time, ending up with a morning person was at the top of my list, so I immediately lit up and asked him if he was a morning person, which he was! I remember feeling as though I had just met my soulmate. Crazy, I know, but lucky for us the feeling was mutual. Later that night he got my Facebook contact from his sister, and we started messaging each other, which led to phone calls and then flying back and forth to see each other. After a full year of long distance, Rishi decided it was time to move to Vancouver, BC. We always have a thrill of a time together, hiking, biking, traveling, catching sunsets, trying new restaurants, and eating too much ice cream, and are just the best of friends. It was meant to be”.

The Proposal
In May 2019, Rishi whisked Kesha away on a planned weekend getaway in Sooke, BC at a private beach resort called Point No Point. As they walked down the beach after a delicious fresh seafood dinner, Rishi got down on one knee, confessed his love, and popped the question. The overjoyed couple spent the next two days at the resort with their private patio jacuzzi overlooking the sunset and enjoyed their special moment together before telling the world.

Wedding Venue
“We wanted an idyllic destination wedding for a unique experience, and zeroed in on Bali as the perfect location. Full of beautiful venue spaces to host our different functions, the mandap area being our favorite, Conrad Bali was the ultimate choice! Our wedding planners also have a great relationship and plenty of experience working with the resort, and the rapport they had built ensured us that our guests would be well taken care of, and all the wedding events would run smoothly.”

Wedding Planning
The couple entrusted the team of Eventures to plan every detail of their dream wedding. Talking about their experience, they share, “We would like to thank our wedding planners Vishal, Vanessa, Johnny, and the entire Eventures team for helping us finalize all our wedding vendors and taking care of every single detail. There is so much that goes into planning an Indian wedding as it is a multi-day affair, we could not have done it without the help of our exceptional wedding planners. I’ve witnessed several Indian weddings of family and friends growing up, and the chaos of executing everything seemed so overwhelming. Believe it or not, our family did not have a single thing to stress about, which made our entire experience absolutely magical. We highly recommend the Eventures team for anyone considering Bali as their Wedding destination.”

Their decor was executed to perfection by Butterfly Event Styling, while their special moments were captured by Axioo Bali and DCV Company.

All of the groom’s outfits were designed by Indonesia-based Anjali Mahtani, as well as the bride’s Mehndi outfit. While she curated most of her wedding wear from various places in Gujarat, she added a personal touch to all her ensembles with blouses she designed herself! A personal passion that she now professionally shares with other brides looking for one-of-a-kind designs, her intricately crafted couture blouses stole the show and took her outfits to another level. Not stopping there, she even designed blouses for her bridesmaids.

Wedding Functions
Sangeet
Starting their festivities on an auspicious note with a traditional Puja as per their distinct cultures, Kesha and Rishi upped the glamor quotient for their wedding celebrations with their Sangeet soiree. The outdoor function was brimming with the Pinterest-worthy decor of long barn tables, metallic geometric elements, Edison bulbs, green canopies, exotic blooms, and more. Kicking things off with a Sindhi Misri ceremony and ending the night with a Gujarati Garba Raas, the couple honored both their roots in an evening of multicultural masti.

Wedding
Imagined with a unique blend of traditional Indian and local Indonesian elements, the wedding ceremony was one for the ages. As per the groom’s vision, the stunning mandap designed in a Balinese gazebo was brimming with marigolds and other exotic blooms, and a breathtaking sight to behold as the couple tied the knot. The minimalist marigold Ganpati added a lovely traditional yet modern touch.

Advice for couples
“If you have the opportunity to hire a wedding planner, we highly recommend you do. Find a team that has had plenty of experience planning and executing Indian weddings, as well as having worthy connections with several wedding vendors. They will offer support, guidance, and inspiration, and ensure every detail of every event flows with ease. Every couple deserves to thoroughly enjoy their wedding celebration, and there’s a lot of time and money that goes into planning such an elaborate occasion, so it’s a shame if you find yourself overwhelmed or stressed during what should be the happiest time of your life. Try not to aim for perfection and control every little detail, because things may not turn out how you expected, but just trust the process and have faith that your wedding planners will do everything they can to make your dream wedding come true.”
