Malvika Saraogi from Calcutta and Mukund Halwasiya from Delhi got married at JW Marriott in Phuket. The couple and their families were looking for a beach resort in Thailand. They felt Phuket with its clean waters, clear sky and easy accessibility, was the perfect choice and made for a perfect get away for family and guests.

The wedding style was modern yet traditional. The celebrations commenced with a traditional Thai style welcome with Thai long drummers and long nail dancers, orchid garlands and refreshing coconut water. This was followed by the traditional pre-wedding festivities. Soon guests indulged in relaxing foot reflexology treatments so they could dance with ease over the next few nights. As the sun set the guests headed to the modern Marakesh Night by the beach- lots of lights and tones of red, purple, blue, green to give it an authentic feel. The highlight was a dance performance by Russian dancers in elegant and exotic lit up dresses followed by a saxophone performance by a player from Hyderabad.

The night of the Sangeet was in tones of purple with a beautiful floral backdrop for the ring ceremony which was quickly transformed into a star-studded sky for an entertaining performance by the popular Sona Mahapatra of 'Delhi Belly' fame.

The wedding was a very traditional affair, all the decor was in yellow, white and touch of gold. The mandap was of a very unique shape which made it look very different and eye catching. Clusters of floral bells were hung from the ceiling to give a fuller look to the ballroom. The wedding was performed with ritual and shlok chanting as the bride wanted all the guests to be involved in the wedding ceremony. Folk singers from a small village in Rajasthan entertained post the ceremony. The evening was followed by an informal reception dinner and a DJ night for the youngsters by the beach.

Ragini Modi, the Wedding Planner who runs Bangkok-based Spectrum Events tells us more: "There was a Tsunami warning just a day before all the guests were to arrive. The hotel was being evacuated and the Phuket airport was shut for a full day, it was a tense situation for us as well as the hosts and guests, not knowing how things would shape up over the next three days. However, we managed everything as smoothly as we could, and guests didn't feel uneasy at all. And in the end, it was a beautiful wedding with a blend of great ambience, festivities, celebrations, fun and drama!"
