Meghana and Alex, Bengaluru

A Konkani-Russian marriage, Meghana and Alex's wedding at a former ancestral home was planned with love by Crimson and Cherry.

Simple yet striking, USA-based IT professionals Meghana and Alex Rozenfield’s Konkani Brahmin wedding was a heartwarming celebration. Comprising four colorful events, this wedding was planned and designed by WeddingSutra Favorite – Crimson and Cherry who didn’t let a single detail slip by in their quest to make the couple’s vision come true.

How They Met
Meghana shares, “Both of us hail from different parts of the world, Alex is Russian and I’m from Bangalore! The first time we crossed paths was on the very first day of my new job. We just hit it off immediately and we started hanging out after work for dinners, went to movies, enjoyed game nights and hiking trips. But the turning point was when he took me to a Broadway show and during a very emotional scene quietly held my hand. That’s when I knew that he was the one! And a few months from then, we both knew that we were in love.”

The Proposal
Reminiscing the private surprise proposal Alex had planned for her, Meghana says, “We were on a beach vacation in Monterey, California. Unknown to me, Alex apparently had the ring in his pocket the entire trip trying to find the right moment and worried I had it all figured out. But when he did go on his knee, under a vine-covered archway at the end of one of the best days of my life, I was surprised beyond belief! It was a private moment, just the two of us, under the stars, by the ocean and the bright moonlight as our witness.”

Wedding Planning
Meghana and Alex were keen on working with a team who would not be fazed by time zone differences and they could rely easily on to orchestrate the wedding they had always envisioned. And, to make their wedding dreams come true, they chose planners Crimson and Cherry who impressed them with their enthusiasm, creativity, and flexibility. Meghana shares, “We did a lot of research and finally opted for Crimson and Cherry as they came highly recommended and had a creative outlook we connected with. Coordination and communication for us were of the utmost importance as we were based in America. Fortunately Crimson and Cherry impressed us from the get-go and we knew we could trust them from the very first interview. They were professional, friendly and so easy to work with! Mood Boards were created, themes were fixed, budgets were decided and alongside all of this, our planners also catered to our ever-changing requirements without a protest. I was very particular about the mandap and the reception backdrops and wanted them to fit the color theme of the ceremonies. Since we only had a night’s gap between two events, I was worried if they would pull off what was expected. But we were blown away by the final results!”

Haldi
Swathed in hues of yellow and white, the Haldi was a home-based event where the couple was playfully slathered with a turmeric mixture by their closest ones. Wearing a simple orange saree with floral accessories Meghana glowed as she smiled mischievously at Alex.

Mehndi
“Our mehndi was also a home-based event as we wanted it to be intimate and convenient. When it came to decor, we wanted a pop of color and hence chose a Moroccan blue and bright pink theme. We also included a big canopy to cover the venue and added a floral arch that followed the color palette”, says Meghana.

Wedding
“Following Konkani Brahmin traditions, our wedding was simple yet colorful. We especially chose an off-the-grid location for rustic charm and solitude. Angana the Courtyard resort, a former ancestral home, amplifies a sense of vintage vibe with its courtyards, pitched roofs and ethnic motifs. And, since the resort offered an amphitheater seating arrangement, I was especially keen on a circular mandap that would give everyone a clear view of the wedding. Crimson and Cherry added a touch of whimsy to the mandap with a scene-stealing floral chandelier”, shares Meghana.

Reception
“The venue was peppered with tall, lush trees. Keeping this in mind, we decided to highlight them with numerous fairy lights cascading down to give off a romantic vibe and add a dreamy golden glow to the surroundings. A colorful floral backdrop made for a striking focal point as it contrasted beautifully with the all-cream color scheme”, shares the happy bride.
