Mehak and Deepak, Dusit Thani Hua Hin, Thailand
From ‘Alice in Wonderland’ to ‘Jodha Akbar’ – the themes of Deepak and Mehak’s wedding functions at Dusit Thani Hua Hin in Thailand were high on creativity
Bride Mehak shares how her dreams of a fairytale wedding come to life. Planned and executed by Mumbai-based destination wedding experts, Mpire Weddings, the grand nuptials saw her and groom Deepak enjoying different themes and beautiful setups at the Dusit Thani Hua Hin hotel in Thailand.
How We Met
“Deepak I met at my friend’s birthday party. My first impression of him was not that favorable but as the night progressed, we spoke endlessly on love, life, our dreams, and aspirations. We exchanged numbers and he asked me if he could take me out on a date. The following day, he took me to a restaurant, paid attention to every detail I had said the night before and made me feel very comfortable. After an evening of banter and laughs, he pursued me and took me out every day for a week. Each date got better with time and within a week, we decided to get married!”
“Unfortunately, Deepak’s plan on surprising me with a grand proposal was accidentally disclosed to me by my parents. Eventually, he came to my house with a bunch of roses and a ring he had designed for me, went down on one knee and uttered the most magical three words!”
“We wanted a beach wedding and the Dusit Thani Hua Hin hotel in Thailand was our ultimate choice. It is a premium property surrounded by nature and was suitable to accommodate our large guest list.”
Haldi & Mehndi
“We had an intimate Haldi function with close family friends followed by a grand ‘Alice in Wonderland’ themed Mehndi. It was an outdoor pool party of sorts that was designed to look like an Indian ‘mela’ (fair). Matching the colorful theme of the atmosphere, I wore a canary yellow, fuchsia and green lehenga from Rimple and Harpreet Narula and teamed it with delicate floral jewellery to complete the breezy look.”
The décor of the function included brightly colored paisley cut outs, royal blue seating and pretty floral arrangements on the setup by the pool.
“Our sangeet was the most special as it had a ‘Jodha Akbar’ theme which, in a way, signified our love story. For the décor, we went for nude colored drapes decorated with fresh marigold flowers and a fully illuminated stage for the special dance performances. I wore an elaborate navy blue and gold Dolly J masterpiece with statement jewellery to complement my royal Rajputana look.”
“We wanted our own fairytale and our wedding was nothing short of that! From the floating candle signage (which read ‘Mehak loves Deepak’) to the intricately decorated pink floral mandap, everything signified the true spirit of romance. I even made a grand entry on a swan-shaped boat, complete with the most ethereal dull gold lehenga designed by the ace designer Suneet Varma. It was fully embellished with Swarovski crystals and perfectly complemented my diamond jewellery set from Dhir Diamonds. The makeup for the evening was done by makeup whiz Ambika Madarasmi who created a gorgeous dewy look coupled with smoky eyes and a matte pout which went well with the outfit.”
Deepak made his grand entry on a brightly decorated elephant which had a canopied palanquin on its back. The mandap was a lovely structure with a circular ceiling festooned with bright drapes and flowers all along the four pillars. Deepak wore a cream sherwani with all over gold thread embroidery. He matched this with a maroon stole and ‘safa’ (turban) and a regal multi-layered necklace.
“The reception was a majestic after-party and I wore a peach lehenga ensemble by Dolly J. We had a ‘fantasy’ theme which was designed to keep the environment dreamy and glamorous. We had a fully decorated white floral bar, special performance artists, unicorns, angels and violinists that made me live my very own fairytale for real!”
