Nicky and Bhavna – Hyderabad, India

Dubai-based Bhavna and her Spanish entrepreneur husband Nicky sifted through many options in Mumbai, Alibaug, Goa, Jaipur, Udaipur and Bangkok, but finally zeroed on Ramoji Film City as their wedding venue because of its remarkable set-up and breath-taking outdoor locations - Hawa Mahal and Mughal Gardens being their favorites.

The Location

Every woman dreams of a lavish, romantic wedding and wants it to be a distinctly memorable one. Finding an exclusive venue to tie the knot is one way to be assured of this. So Dubai-based Bhavna and her Spanish entrepreneur husband, Nicky, decided they would solemnize their vows at the Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad, where many a love stories have been captured on celluloid. The couple and their family sifted through many options in Mumbai, Alibaug, Goa, Jaipur, Udaipur and Bangkok to finally zero in on this uncommon venue. “We agreed on Ramoji Film City because of its remarkable set-up and breath-taking outdoor locations – Hawa Mahal and Mughal Gardens being our favourites.

Luckily for Nicky, Bhavna had visited the venue a couple times, and their parents and siblings thrice before the final decision was made. So he just had to arrive at the time of finalizing!

Lights, Camera, Action!

The guests were greeted with a Mehndi Mela with a Rajasthani theme on the first day. The ring ceremony that night was a black tie affair with a starry night theme.

The next morning, they held religious ceremonies on the bride and the groom’s sides. The main wedding ceremony was held at sunset. The pheras were held at the scenic Hawa Mahal, set up in an amber, white and gold colour theme.

This was followed by a Mehfil-e-Khaas with an arabic theme – a night of ghazal and old songs – for the adults, while the youngsters, in suits and masks, enjoyed a Masquerade Ball.

On the third day, they hosted a Hawaiian themed pool party, titled Aloha. At night, there was a grand reception for the couple at the magnificent Mughal Gardens.

Back Stage

Bhavna’s family had arrived from Dubai and Nicky’s from Spain, so there was a quite a bit of travel-management to be done.

Putting together the team that would make the wedding magical was the most time-consuming part of the process. Bhavna chose her hair and make-up artist, wedding card designer and event organizer with much care. She also recalls having her moments of stress during the long process of shopping for and deciding on the perfect wedding trousseau.

Dealing with the nitty-gritty at RFC, she says, was also quite a challenge. Yet, “Planning and looking forward to the actual wedding was the best part as the feeling of anticipation for one’s own wedding is indescribable,” says Bhavna reliving the excitement.

The Crew

Hyderabad’s Minttu Sarna and his team of event managers took care of everything including decoration, sets, flowers, place settings, audiovisual equipment, catering set up, performers, entertainment and transport. The siblings, Bharat and Mayuri, contributed with their ideas, decision-making, coordination, arrangements and organisation of skits of the dance performances done by their family and friends.

The invitation card was designed by Niti Modi of Escapades, Dubai. The stills and video cinematography through the revelry was taken care of by Pooja Studio, Dubai. The bride’s make up and hair was done by Subhash Shinde of Mumbai.

Apart from the in-house catering at Ramoji Film City, they had also hired three renowned caterers from Hyderabad: Fusion9, Sharma Chaatwala and Gaurav Caterers to assure the guests of a sumptuous treat.
