Nisha and Reynold – Goa, India

Nisha and Reynold wed in the same Goan church his parents had got married in, and hosted a reception at the beachfront Stone Water Eco Resort

How they met
Nisha and Reynold first met three years ago at her family-run Stone Water Eco Resort in the port town of Vasco da Gama in Goa. She managed destination weddings at the scenic beachfront resort which comprises charming chalets, and the couple decided to hold their own wedding reception there.

Nisha shares, “I’ve studied in Bangalore and Reynold did his college and had his first job in Bombay. However, we returned to our roots in Goa around the same time in 2009.” So what made them relocate to Goa? “I moved because I love my family way too much to stay away from them and he moved because he loves Goa, period!” she declares.

Reynold runs a popular restaurant in Verna called Souffle, while Nisha manages activities and weddings at the resort. Although work keeps the young couple busy, they have many shared interests and common passions that enable them to spend quality time together despite their hectic schedules.

Wedding Venue
Nisha said they chose to get hold their reception in the same venue where they first met as “The place is very close to my heart because every year I watched beautiful couples coming together, and I played a big part when planning their weddings, so it was only obvious that I would choose this dream place for my big day.”

Wedding Functions
Nisha and Reynold are Catholics so they had a traditional white wedding in the same beautiful church in Verna where his parents got married decades ago. “He was very keen on having the wedding at the same place,” Nisha recalls. “Later in the evening, on the same day, we had our wedding reception and enjoyed dancing under the stars at the resort.”

She spoke to a lot of decorators, vendors and planners as she was very clear about the look and feel she wanted for her wedding. She says that Sandra Menon of Golden Aisle understood her taste and delivered what she wanted exceptionally well. The open-air reception featured a magnificent multi-tiered cake, pretty chandeliers festooned from the roof beams and a backdrop lit up with fairy lights that looked magical at night.

Wedding Shopping
Nisha’s gorgeous white wedding gown was designed by renowned Goa-based designer Wendell Rodricks. Its flouncy long skirt paired well with the fitted bodice top and sheer sleeves that had beautiful cut patterns. The long veil, which was skillfully fixed to her neat bun hairdo, made for dramatic photos as the couple exchanged their vows in church. Nisha kept her jewellery simple yet sophisticated with strands of white pearly beads as a neckpiece and matching earrings. The bridesmaid stood out in their pretty blue ensembles, each of which had a slightly different design from the rest. “My jewellery was from Tanishq and the rest of my shopping was done across stores in Goa, Bombay and London. I managed to travel after my engagement in April and before the wedding in January so a lot of my shopping happened during those vacations,” she shares. Reynold looked dapper in his black wedding suit and natty bow tie, while his band of groomsmen proved to be the perfect entourage in their well-cut ensembles.
