Pooja and Shohil, Tenerife, Spain
A Spanish fiesta, a power-packed sangeet and a gorgeous mandap were the highlights of this wedding.
Lovebirds Pooja and Shohil tied the knot on the heavenly island of Tenerife, amidst beautiful beaches and stunning volcanoes. Every moment of the celebration was captured by WeddingSutra Favorite – DotDusk Studios. Here are the highlights of the events.
How They Met
Shohil grew up in London, while Pooja grew up in Tenerife, Spain. The two were introduced by a mutual friend when Pooja moved to London to study medicine in 2011. The couple bonded instantly, and Shohil became Pooja’s home away from home. In 2018, he popped the question at Villa Borghese in Rome. And what about their friend who played cupid? Ofcourse she was Pooja’s maid of honor at the wedding.
Pooja says, “As soon as we got engaged, we knew straight away that we would be getting married in Tenerife. We wanted our wedding to be a holiday in a stunning destination with our closest friends and family, so this was the perfect choice. Moreover, I have a very special place in my heart for my hometown and wanted to honor my upbringing there.”
The couple enlisted Karishma Manwani, Pooja’s childhood friend and wedding planner (based in London), to make their dream wedding a reality. Karishma and Pooja wanted to make sure that the right teams worked together to make the celebration memorable. DJ Chuso from Tenerife was left in charge of the music for all three nights of celebrations.
Pooja shares, “We got the talented DotDusk team on board to capture the festivities, and they were just amazing! From the beginning to the end, they proved they were the perfect choice, having a professional attitude, but going every extra mile to ensure ease and comfort for me and Shohil. The photos from our wedding are truly captured in timeless frames and our guests just can’t stop raving about the photos and video. We could not have wished for a better team than DotDusk for our big day!
The first event was a Spanish fiesta by the poolside, where Pooja was dressed in a stunning gold gown. She says, “We wanted to welcome the guests to Spain showcasing the real flavour of this beautiful country. Guests arrived to flamenco dancers, a sangria bar, live paella stations, lots of tapas and, last by not least, churros!”
The gorgeous couple made their grand entrance to the beats of the song ‘Taki Taki’ amidst an impressive display of fireworks. After the welcome fiesta, the guests were taken down to an exclusive beach, where DJ Chuso got the party pumping. Armed with glow-in-the-dark and neon props, the night was wild.
After weeks of preparations and rehearsals, the sangeet ceremony was probably one of the most anticipated events. Pooja and Shohil couldn’t hide their happiness and joy as they saw their nearest and dearest burn up the dance floor. A major highlight of the evening was the performance by the charismatic Sukhbir Singh, who made it a night to remember for everyone there. The bride wore a dazzling emerald green lehenga, while the groom looked dapper in a stunning velvet sherwani.
The final day of the festivities began with a haldi ceremony, which was followed by the wedding. Shohil arrived in style, cruising through the hotel grounds in a red convertible. The bride made her entrance in a more traditional way, with her brothers escorting her to the mandap under a phoolon ki chadar. Created with over a thousand roses, the gorgeous mandap overlooked the vast Atlantic ocean. The couple both wore outfits by Sabyasachi Mukherjee. The wedding ceremony was conducted by priest Hemang Bhatt from London. Following the ceremony, the newlyweds left in a vintage Rolls Royce.
The weekend celebrations concluded with an extravagant reception dinner. This was a black-tie event where guests enjoyed a three-course meal. Close friends and family toasted to the couple and everyone hit the dance floor as the talented Edge Band rocked the stage for the night.
