Preksha Bhandari has lived in London for a decade, where she completed her higher studies and then worked at the Credit Suisse bank. Her family is based in Dubai, and her husband, Himanshu Bafna in California where he works as a marketing and strategy professional with Yahoo. They met through their families and common friends.

The Destination

Preksha and Himanshu chose Udaipur to tie the knot for its beauty, rich culture and authentic Rajasthani-style weddings. Besides it has an excellent choice of hotels. The couple wanted a blend of Rajasthani culture to reflect in the venue together with space and comfort for the guests. They short-listed a few popular luxury hotels and chose the Sheraton as the venue for their wedding.

The Wedding Rituals

Over five days of rituals and revelry, the couple and their guests enjoyed the space and comfort provided at the Sheraton. The festivities began with the traditional haldi and mehendi ceremony. The mehendi function was brought alive by the traditional Rajasthani decor in colours that complemented Preksha's outfit.

The surreal romance of the Janana mahal made it ideal for the sangeet function. There was a royal touch in the decor - from the stage, seating arrangement and lighting as well as the food.

The shaadi ka mandap was a blend of the traditional and the contemporary. The ceremony took place indoors at the Sheraton as it was raining at the time.

The wedding reception was held in the lawns of the Sheraton hotel and the decor used bright colours, in keeping with the theme of their wedding invitation card.

Preksha fondly recalls, "We enjoyed every bit of the wedding. It's difficult to pin point the best moments, but the shaadi ka pheras were the most fun part as it was a historic moment in my life." She adds: "Sahil and his team from Frozen Apple Events did a great job with wedding management. So it was quite a stress-free affair too."

The Food

Amar Caterers of Jodhpur arranged the food for the events. They offered popular Rajasthani dishes, sumptuous delicacies from other Indian states and international flavor as well. The buffet at most events offered an exquisite spread of cuisines from different countries at separate food stalls.
