How They Met
“Satya and I met for the first time in London when my friends forced me to try a dating app called Hinge where I matched with Satya. I remember my dad asking me if I was going to marry him and I said ‘Yes,’ and that was when I realised that I had already made the decision subconsciously.”

The Proposal
“The proposal was truly a fairytale. I was in London for my best friend Malvika’s bachelorette party which I had planned. Unbeknownst to me, Satya and she were planning his proposal to me. After the Sunday brunch we had planned, Malvika pretended that we had to go pick up a cake for her dad. She sent me to Selfridges, a retail store in London, where Satya was waiting for me. I had no idea he was flying in and was completely taken aback. He took me for a little walk around Marylebone in the direction of our favourite London pub where we had gone on our first date. When we got there, he proposed to me in front of the entire pub, and then our families surprised us! My family had flown in from Singapore and India, and his had arrived from New York to watch him propose to me. The fact that he knew I would want my family there meant everything, and I knew I had made the right choice.”

Wedding Planning
“Although all our friends and family members actively participated in the planning process of our wedding, our wedding planners were Buvana Sharma and Bharati Shah from Electric Karma, based out of Houston, Texas. I had chosen WhatKnot to capture my wedding after seeing their amazing work at my best friend’s wedding. As for invitations and wedding website, Satya and I designed everything ourselves. We wanted a London-New York theme for our wedding and everything was designed keeping this in mind.”

Haldi
The couple’s haldi ceremony was a traditional Maharashtrian ceremony where their loved ones smeared them with golden turmeric paste. The haldi was followed by a fun pool party where the couple and their loved ones had a great time.

Sangeet
For the sangeet the couple went for a fun fair theme. There were games around the venue and the decor for the bar and game stalls was colorful and quirky. Canopies and whimsical floral elements dominated the decor and the LED-lit stage witnessed spectacular performances put together for the couple.

Wedding
“We wanted to keep the decor really simple for the wedding as the venue was a pristine beach which would make for stunning pictures. We went for a simple mandap in white. For lunch we wanted a traditional Maharashtrian fare with some of my and Satya’s favorite delicacies served on banana leaves.”

Rujuta wanted to wear a lehenga for her pheras but wished for a Maharashtrian touch in her outfits. She opted for a silk lehenga crafted from Maharashtra’s famous Paithani embroidered fabric. Satya stuck to white for his wedding attire and paired a simple kurta with a dhoti, while his groomsmen wore rich cobalt outfits.

A post-wedding reception party was hosted to celebrate the union of Rujuta and Satya. An outdoor soiree, the reception was illuminated with fairy lights that transformed the venue into a dreamy wonderland. Rujuta wore a 1920’s style flapper dress for the party while Satya wore a suit made by Indochino with the date of their wedding stitched on the side of his suit jacket.
