This wedding against the backdrop of the Aravalli mountains in Rajasthan was full of regal touches.
Sadhana and Michael dated for three years before he bent the knee. “He made some 20 odd trips to India to make us happen, to convince my parents and to work towards diminishing our cultural differences,” shares Sadhana. The two overcame all obstacles, and when it was time for them get married, they knew their wedding had to be a celebration unlike any other. The ecstatic bride shares with us the highlights of their big day.
Wedding Venue
“We hosted our wedding at Hotel Fateh Garh in Udaipur. The reason I chose this venue was because of the beautiful views that it affords and its gorgeous interiors. In my opinion, food and hospitality are two of the most important factors that contribute to a successful wedding, especially a cross-cultural one, and this property extended the best of both.”
Wedding Planning
“Our wedding was planned by Mr. Anil Soni from Hotel Fateh Garh, Udaipur, and he did an amazing job. All the preparations were done keeping in mind our tastes and we were delighted with his work. My makeup for the mehndi, sangeet and the wedding was done by Adai Artistry, while Joynie Ruwngtol dolled me up for my reception. Naro Lemtur was my hairstylist for the mehndi, sangeet and the wedding. All of them were exceptional with their work, and I recommend them to all brides-to-be. We picked Delhi Velvet to capture our wedding photos.”

Mehndi
“The decor for my mehndi was very colorful and the theme was inspired by the beautiful state of Rajasthan where we were hosting our nuptials. This was a vibrant function where we also invited Rajasthani folk dancers and singers to bring in a cultural element to the festivities. Even my mehndi artists were dressed in traditional outfits to match the mood of the festivities.”
Sangeet
“For the sangeet, the color palette focused on red and gold. The beautiful glow at the event was thanks to lots of twinkling fairy lights. The night included performances by me and my friends. Going with the mood of the event, I picked a delicate nude gown with floral work by Dolly J, while Michael wore a tuxedo by Canali.”
Wedding
“Romantic pastels set the tone at our wedding that was hosted at sunset by the poolside. Behind the mandap, we could see the Aravalli mountain range extending from one end to another, and the soft colors ensured that the spaces were decorated in a way that did not detract from the natural beauty of the surroundings. My lehenga for the ceremony was from Asiana Couture, and Michael wore a sherwani by Rohit Bal.”
Reception
“The final event at the wedding had to have a timeless appeal which is why I chose white and gold hues for the decor. I decided to let my outfit contrast with the setting and opted for a red and gold saree by Sabyasachi. Red is such a bridal color, and I knew I had to have it as a part of my wedding wardrobe to be able to feel complete as a bride! Michael complimented my outfit in a black sherwani and trousers from Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna.”
Advice For Couples
“Never compromise on the food, photography, makeup, and hair for your wedding. In my opinion, these are the things that make your wedding look good. Don’t just concentrate on your pictures; be sure to enjoy and have fun when your entire family is together. This time is never going to come back so savor every moment.”
