Sakshi Karnawat and Nikhil Yadav, ITC Grand Goa
Bold Palettes, bespoke decor, and intimate moments - this cross-city wedding was a stunner!
Set against the vibrant backdrops of Pune and Goa, Sakshi and Nikhil’s wedding unfolded as a seamless blend of modern elegance and soulful tradition expertly orchestrated by WeddingSutra Favorite – Mosaic Events by Raj Batra. From colour-drenched festivities to serene beachside vows, every element bore finesse and sophisticated charm.
How They Met
Sakshi and Nikhil’s journey began on the very first day of their Master’s program in Rochester, New York. What started as a deep friendship soon blossomed into something more. Their bond only strengthened as they moved to Seattle together in 2021, and on the rarest of dates—29th February 2024—Nikhil proposed, making a symbolic leap into their future together.
Wedding Planning
Orchestrated seamlessly by Mosaic Events by Raj Batra, Sakshi and Nikhil’s wedding was a striking balance of elegance, cultural nuance, and elevated guest experiences. Spanning across two cities and multiple days, from intimate ceremonies in Pune to vibrant festivities in Goa, the couple’s vision was brought to life with meticulous detail.
“We always wanted the décor to feel elevated yet subtle, something that enhanced the natural beauty of each moment without overwhelming it,” the couple shared. “Raj Batra and his team at Mosaic understood this perfectly and curated an atmosphere that reflected our style most thoughtfully.”
From intuitive guest services at Pune and Goa airports, including the coordination of three charter flights, to the experiential designs across each event, Mosaic Events delivered an immersive celebration that resonated with both the couple and their guests.
Wedding Functions
Mehendi
Infused with a vibrant, Rajasthani charm, the Mehendi was a celebration of color, nostalgia, and whimsy. Traditional games and modern kitsch merged seamlessly across the décor, where bright floral accents, playful graphics, and folk-inspired table elements created a cheerful, immersive experience.
Kumkum
A soulful ode to tradition, this serene ceremony unfolded amidst a palette of blush pinks, creams, and golds. Accents of lotus flowers, mogra, and tuberoses filled the air with fragrance, while a circular stage framed in golden urlis and diyas formed the sacred centrepiece. A classical couple’s entry alongside their parents heightened the spiritual tone.
Pre-Wedding Reception
With over 2,500 guests in attendance, this majestic evening unfolded in a dreamscape of lavender, white, and gold. Crystal-embedded installations, sheer drapes, and exotic florals adorned the space, while an 80-foot stage commanded attention at the heart of the celebration.
Welcome Dinner
Channelling the glamour of a talk show, this sophisticated black, white, and grey affair brought a bold and playful twist to the welcome night. Hosted by anchor Ajay Karmani, the evening featured a ‘Koffee with Karan ’-style segment, complete with personalized mugs, plush candlelit lounges, and candid banter that revealed the couple’s chemistry in all its charm.
Mayra Ceremony
Inspired by the mystique of Vrindavan, this ethereal function reimagined spiritual motifs through a modern lens. Krishna-inspired accents, bamboo installations, banana leaves, and scripture quotes adorned the space, while floral embellishments on brass pots and pickle jars blended tradition with contemporary flair.
Sangeet
Set in opulent tones of red, gold, and black, the sangeet was pure theatrical magic. A dramatic kabuki drop and projection mapping ushered in the couple like stars at an awards night. With luxe velvet cushions, geometric props, and maroon-wrapped pillars, the evening exuded cinematic splendour, celebrating love through music and dance.
Haldi and Carnival
Inspired by a Mediterranean brunch palette, this joyous celebration was bursting with citrus hues, floral installations, and carefree charm. Arches, crystal vases, printed cushions, and a vibrant painted garden panel created an atmosphere of unfiltered fun, enhanced by playful details like a guitar décor element and jute-textured lounges.
Wedding and Reception
Framed by the sea and bathed in golden hour light, the final day was a vision in whites, greens, and golds. A 15,000 sq. ft. platform was constructed on the beach to house the mandap, stage, and reception lounge. The sunset Varmala beneath a crystalline mandap was a scene straight out of a dream.
