Sanjana and Amrit, Bali

The ‘Samba Wedding’ of Sanjana and Amrit was an extravagant, star-studded affair hosted across plush properties in Bali. WeddingSutra Favourite – DotDusk Studios, captured all the beautiful moments, leaving the couple with breathtaking photographs from the special time.

How They Met
Sanjana, who hails from Indonesia, moved to India in 2011, but she continued to visit her family and friends there, flying back regularly. On one such trip, she was attending her friend’s wedding and they took many pictures. Amrit, whose friend was in attendance, saw a picture posted on Instagram. Mesmerized by her beauty, he asked around about her and sent her a message on Instagram. As fate would have it, out of all the unknown DMs she received, she chose to reply to Amrit’s message. The two embarked on a relationship and eventually she made a move back to Jakarta.

The Proposal
Sanjana says, “Amrit made my birthday extremely special by planning a surprise proposal on our three-day trip to Bali. I didn’t suspect a thing. He took me to the Mandapa, Ritz Carlton, in Ubud for a beautiful private dinner by the river and rainforest. The place was lit up with candles and we were drinking wine. I thought it was just a birthday dinner until the ring showed up in my dessert. Of course, I said ‘YES’.”

Wedding Planning
The bride-to-be shares, “I have a knack for taking pictures wherever I go. It makes me dive into the nostalgic memories of the feelings, sound, smell and touch associated with a particular picture captured in a beautiful moment. I wanted the same emotions to resonate with my wedding pictures. I immediately locked the team of DotDusk Studios led by Sundeep and Lakhbir who are known for creating something ethereal, something magical through their photography. From our pre-wedding shoot to our four days of crazy wedding celebrations, their experts created something beyond our expectations and presented it in a box full of memories.”

Wedding Functions

Welcome Dinner
The wedding celebrations began with a bang. Hosted at The Apurva Kempinski, the couple held a Brazilian-themed welcome dinner outdoors, after which everyone enjoyed a night filled with samba dancers and flamboyant entertainment. The bride and groom made a stunning entrance. Amrit wore a Gaurav Gupta yellow suit with floral print, while Sanjana wore a lavender gown with crystal work, her hair in dreamy side-swept waves.

Mehendi
Sanjana’s mehndi was simple function which was held in her room; the team at Henna by Ima Habsyi drawing out the couple’s entire love story on her palms.

Sangeet
Their sangeet was lavish. The evening was filled with dance performances by family members, along with background dancers and fireworks. Held at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali, the night was hosted by Manish Paul and there were several B-Town celebrities upping the glam quotient at the venue. The stage, lit with LED screens, was fit for an awards show. Sanjana wore a Suneet Varma multi-layered lehenga in icy blue with silver embellishments. Amrit opted for a navy blue Kunal Rawal ensemble paired with a silver stole.

Wedding
The gold mandap shone against the pristine shoreline. It was decorated with regal-looking green drapes, while the aisle was covered in white blooms and greenery. Sanjana, walked under the phoolon ki chaadar in a gold and bronze Sabyasachi lehenga and a multi-stringed polki necklace. Amrit wore an ivory Sabyasachi sherwani with an embroidered marsala shawl and a matching safa.

After Party
The after party had a hip hop theme as both Sanjana and Amrit are huge fans of old-school RnB classics. Hosted in the Kempinski ballroom, the venue was transformed to look like an underground hip hop club from New York, complete with graffiti. The DJ console and the stage was made to look like a stereo. Sanjana wore a vibrant orange mini dress with a frilly trail by Nitya Kishore, while Amrit kept it casual in a t-shirt and jacket.

Pool Party
The venue was decorated in hues of yellow and white for the pool party. It was a function meant for the guests to unwind amidst all the festivities. There were masseuses, dancers and a cocktail bar to ensure that everyone present had the opportunity to relax. Sanjana sauntered in wearing a chic crimson beach dress by Gauri & Nainika for this event.

Reception
The reception was all glitz and glamor, with luxe decor in silver, black and red, and crystal chandeliers added sparkle to the occasion. The extravagant bash was the perfect grand finale to the ‘Samba Wedding’. The bride looked enchanting in an embellished, asymmetrical-hemmed Shantanu & Nikhil gown, while the groom looked handsome in a black tuxedo by Gaurav Gupta.
