Shachi and Rikhil, The Hermitage at Pangong, Ladakh
From the dales of Scotland where they fell in love to a lake in Ladakh where they tied the knot, Shachi and Rikhil's offbeat approach to life and love resulted in a unique wedding.
Ladakh is a popular place for pre-wedding photo shoots and we have featured many of them on WeddingSutra. However, it is unusual to see a wedding held in the high altitude spots of the stark, mountainous region. However, that did not daunt Shachi and Rikhil who wanted something out of the ordinary when it came to their wedding. Check out the extraordinary pictures captured by A Knotty Tale.
How We Met
Shachi and Rikhil are both filmmakers by profession and are passionate about adventure and bikes. Their story dates back to seven years ago when they first met while backpacking through Scotland. Little did they know that they would be climbing another mountain when they would wed later in the starkly beautiful environs of Ladakh.
Wedding Venues
When two avid bikers meet, an unforgettable adventure is bound to unfold! Shachi and Rikhil wished for anything but a traditional wedding. So they decided upon reliving their road-trip, only this time with close friends and family. They chose the most scenic and off-beat location of India to tie the knot at – the Pangong Lake in Ladakh. Never had this ‘high grassland lake’ seen a wedding before! The adventurous duo who desired something quirky yet serene exchanged vows amongst the idyllic mountains, at about 4,350m above sea level!
Wedding Planning
The couple’s unique wedding was planned to perfection and deftly captured by A Knotty Tale. The couple got their personalized wedding invites designed by Shruti Nandu at The Design Sheep.
Wedding Functions
Mehndi
An intimate event followed by a bonfire by sparkling waters, the mehndi hosted at The Silk Route in Leh had everyone smiling and clicking the picture-perfect vistas.
Wedding
With the baraat heading on bikes from Leh to Pangong, the filmmakers played the lead in their filmy wedding! Keeping in mind the stunning vistas of Ladakh, the decor was kept simple with just local prayer flags fluttering in the wind and adding to the beauty with its vibrant colors! The snow capped mountains in the background lent a dramatic vibe to the daytime wedding ceremony. As for the bride’s breezy attire, she designed the dress herself and got it stitched by Raveena Bambani of Prerna.
