How They Met
“Shritha and I come from two completely different backgrounds. While I grew up in Chennai, she grew up in Dubai and moved here as a college student. We would often bump into each other at the gym and in the neighbourhood. However, it wasn’t until my friend dared me to asked her out that we had an actual conversation. Falling for my friend’s scheme, I asked her if she would like to watch a movie with me and she instantly agreed. One movie date led to another, and eight years later, I married my best friend!”

The Proposal
“A year after we had started dating, I wanted her to know that she meant everything to me on her birthday. So I took her home and introduced her to my family and told them that I was going to marry her. Everyone including Shritha looked shocked, but the best part was that my family loved her right from the moment I introduced her to them. Two years later I had saved up enough to buy her a ring, so I decided to surprise her once again on her birthday. I took her to her favorite place by the lake, and in the presence of all her friends, I proposed to her. She had the biggest smile I had ever seen and at that very moment I knew that our journey together was going to be magical.”

Wedding Venue
“Shritha had wanted to get married by the beach ever since she was a little girl. A few years ago, when we visited InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort for lunch, both of us felt an instant connection to the place and she jokingly said she wanted to get married there. Once our wedding dates were finalized we began looking at a lot of places but something just didn’t click. Eventually, we decided to revisit InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort with our parents, and they too were smitten by the property as soon as they saw it. Once we booked it as our location everything just started falling in place and we had the wedding of our dreams.”

Wedding Functions

Mehendi
“A Moroccan-themed mehndi at the Lily Pond marked the beginning of our wedding festivities. The setting was resplendent with bright colors and elements evocative of the Middle Eastern country. Turquoise blue, fuchsia and gold were the primary colors of the setup and Morrocan lamps added to the beauty of it all. The couple’s seating saw a wreath of bougainvillea that aligned with the color scheme and added a touch of freshness.”

Sangeet
“We wanted to create an ambiance that was warm and magical for our sangeet so we decided to bring in wooden elements, flowers and lots of fairy lights into one absolutely mesmerizing setup. Our stage was made to look more like a dance floor with a canopy over it, and the backdrop was created using a mix of horizontal and vertical wooden panels. The canopy, on the other hand, was made using peach drapes and featured a floral chandelier in the center.”

Wedding
“The daytime outdoor wedding, as one would expect, took place by the beach and the lotus-themed decor was created using abundant marigolds. Pink and yellow dominated the decor, especially the drapes and floral arrangements. The backdrop of our mandap was covered in a large motif of a lotus, and surrounded by structures that looked like lotus blooms. Shritha arrived under a floral canopy and looked absolutely divine. This was the best day of our lives!”

Reception
“We decided to host our final function at The Leela Palace Chennai. This is a property that epitomizes Indian culture and heritage, and was a fitting venue for a grand reception. Our decor for this one was very elegant with an undeniable youthful vibe. The backdrop of the stage was made to look like a garden in full bloom and the venue was decorated in drapes of white and gold.”
