Srishti and Ishaan, Thailand

Monochromatic lanterns, fuchsia hued tents and a checkered dance floor made this couple’s poolside Mehndi an eclectic affair.

Srishti, a wedding invitation designer, and Ishaan, the owner of Megaan, a multi-designer store, were introduced by their families leading them to experience an unexpected whirlwind romance that was waiting in the wings. Even though the duo lived in the same neighborhood and visited the same gym, sparks didn’t fly between them earlier on, till fate intervened and played cupid. Hosted at scenic Thailand which is a popular wedding destination amongst couples for its unbeatable beauty and warm hospitality, Srishti and Ishaan’s nuptials expressed their personalities and creative flair. Orchestrated by WeddingSutra Favorite – Pink Palki, this wedding left everyone spellbound with its meticulous planning and unique themes.

How They Met
Srishti shares, “We met precisely eight months before we tied the knot. Our families knew each other for years and yet we weren’t acquainted previously. The first time I met his family, he was in London and they liked me so much that they arranged a meeting for us. I feel destiny and luck had a lot to do with us getting together as we’d stayed in the same colony, worked out at the same gym, and gone to adjacent schools yet hadn’t bumped into each other till last year.

We hit it off from the first date itself with a five-hour-long conversation and since then, there was no looking back!”

The Proposal
When it came to popping the question, Ishaan pulled all stops and proposed to Srishti with a surprise that left her speechless. The happy bride shares, “For us, love came naturally and within those eight months, we almost felt like teenagers who couldn’t get enough of each other. We talked all night, texted regularly, and found excuses to meet up every day. However, I would’ve never guessed Ishaan’s plans, as one Saturday evening, he took me to Dear Donna which is one of our favorite weekend getaways and proposed to me. At first, I was taken unaware, but I also knew that saying ‘yes’ to him would be the best decision of my life!”

Wedding Venue
With a close affinity for scenic beaches, Thailand was an obvious choice for the couple with its breathtaking scenery. The amazing December weather was the ‘cherry on top’. Explaining their decision to choose Thailand, Srishti shares, “We always wanted a destination wedding with a limited guest list. Ishaan is a die-hard beach person, so Thailand was always at the top of our minds. Although we did consider Hua Hin and Phuket for their popularity, we eventually settled on Rayong since it was an offbeat city. A quick recce trip to Rayong Marriott Resort & Spa ensued and we couldn’t have been happier. Also, the pleasant December weather just added to Thailand’s appeal.”

Wedding Planning
Keeping in mind the demands of a destination wedding, the couple chose from some of the most popular names in the industry. With planner Pink Palki at the helm, their gorgeous nuptials not only went seamlessly, but it also contained unique concepts that awed their guests. Srishti shares, “I had previously attended a friend’s wedding planned by Pink Palki and was blown away by the way they’d managed it. Their work was so impressive that I didn’t even consider a second option. Working with them was an immensely smooth process and their hard work ensured that both of us were at complete comfort during every function. I don’t think we could’ve pulled it off without their constant support, creative insights, and dedication.”

Adding to the team were makeup artist Kajee Rai who made sure the bride looked her best in every shot. Capturing every emotion with their proficient skill behind the lens was Fotowalle – The Story Folks. Last but not the least, Design by Niphon amazed everyone with their stunning decor and attention to detail.

Weddings Functions

Pre-wedding party
A sundowner affair, the pre-wedding party had an ‘all-white’ theme which was hosted on one of the scenic beaches of the venue. The decor had a distinctly rustic vibe to it with its wooden elements that were further accentuated by peach and white flowers, fairy lights, and cloth teepees.

Keeping the theme in mind, all the guests chose to dress up in white attires. But the bride took a unique route and donned a gorgeous mint blue lehenga with a sequin top and pops of pink embroidery on the skirt. Ishaan took his bride’s cue and chose a simple blue kurta to match his lady for this occasion.

After Party
Hosted at the hotel’s night club, this event was labeled as the ‘Jager bomb party’ which had a disco theme that got everyone grooving endlessly on the dancefloor.

Mehndi
With the unique concept of ‘suraj hua maddham’, the mehndi decor consisted of quirky and colorful elements like monochromatic striped lanterns, fuchsia and mint tents, bamboo pyramids, and colorful umbrellas. To keep the spirits up, the team also organized games like tug of war and beer pong to spur friendly banter and loads of laughter. For those who wanted to relax by the poolside, a foot massage station was also organized to put them at ease.

Making sure she stood out amidst the colorful decor, Srishti chose a leaf green and gold Sabyasachi lehenga that she accessorized with floral jewelry. The groom coordinated with his bride and opted for a bandhgala-kurta combo in the same hues.

Pyjama Party
Srishti shares, “The pyjama party night, aptly named ‘The Pillow Talk’ was the most fun event of all! The Pink Palki team really managed to impress us with this one. Elements like dream catchers, dark starry walls, a cushioned bar, and a glow in the dark booth encrusted with stars and moons for the DJ, really set the mood right. It was a boisterous party where everyone reveled and danced the night away.”

Owing to the laid-back theme of the night, the bride kept the comfort levels high in a dark velvet slip nighty with a dressing gown. Ishaan also kept it comfy in a pair of blue striped pyjamas and dressing gown.

Haldi
Following a yellow and white color palette, the haldi was a traditional function with garlands of marigold peppered all around the venue. As the bride and groom were playfully smeared by their loved ones who incessantly teased the duo amidst laughter.

Keeping it light, the duo coordinated their outfits in similar hues of orange. Srishti chose a light unembellished lehenga while Ishaan wore a contemporary bandhgala.

Anand Karaj
Held by the beach, the Anand Karaj was a heartwarmingly blessed occasion where the couple tied the knot surrounded by their close friends and family. Adding a pop of delicate color to the function were dainty sakura trees that made a striking contrast against the cerulean blue skies. Gold metal ornaments and flowers hung from the pristine white canopy as the bride made her way down the aisle sheltered by the phoolon ki chaddar.

Glowing in a muted yellow lehenga, Srishti chose to keep her makeup simple for her big day and accessorized her look with striking kundan jewelry. Ishaan, on the other hand, complemented her in a sage green intricately embroidered sherwani.

Reception
Boosting up the glamour quotient, the duo’s reception night followed a black and gold theme with elements like gold lanterns on mirrored boxes, diwan style seating and Moroccan inspired props. The grand multi-tiered cake only added to the glitz of the party as the newlyweds smiled happily right before slicing it up for the guests.

Dressed in a black and gold sequin lehenga, Srishti was all smiles as she sat beside Ishaan, who turned heads looking dapper in a navy blue sherwani paired with a velvet shawl.

Advice For Couples
“Plan as much as you can in advance but do put a stop to all your efforts ten days before the wedding. In my opinion, whatever has to happen will happen. And with that firmly in mind, I just let go and enjoyed the process of getting married rather than worry about the preparation. Fortunately, we had an excellent planner on board who completely took over and executed it beautifully for us!”, advises Srishti.
