Tina and Guru, Thailand

Encircled by lush palms with the salty sea breeze blowing gently through their hair, this couple’s beachside wedding was a tranquil and dreamy affair.

Tina and Guru had already been dating for a couple of years before Guru decided to pop the question and seal the deal forever. Hosted in picturesque Thailand, a popular destination amongst Indian couples for its impeccable hospitality, their wedding was replete with color and joy. Photographed by WeddingSutra Favorite – Vows and Tales who effortlessly captured the essence of each event, this wedding raised the bar high with its vibrant simplicity.

The Proposal
Tina shares, “We were actually seeing each other for quite a long time before Guru decided to pop the question. One night, he hoodwinked me into thinking that we were meeting some of our friends to casually stroll through an art gallery which would later be followed by dinner and drinks. However, when I entered the gallery, I saw enormous pictures of us enjoying some of the moments that were meaningful to us. After he’d asked the question and I had ecstatically said ‘yes!’, we were joined by our friends and family who had help him set up this special proposal.”

Wedding Venue
To bring their vision of the perfect wedding to life, the duo chose Thailand as their wedding destination. Famed for its pristine beaches, in-depth understanding of the Indian culture, and warm hospitality, Thailand has emerged as a steady favorite amongst Indian couples. Hosted at plush JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa the duo enjoyed every minute of their beachside nuptials. Tina shares, “From making sure our family and friends were well looked after and enjoying their stay to sending Guru and me coconuts to keep us hydrated through events, the hospitality at this property was flawless.”

Wedding Planning
Knowing the importance of having a talented photography team on board, the duo roped in Vows and Tales who awed them with their stunning shots. The bride shares, “From the minute we met them, we knew that they would be fun to work with. Working with the team was almost like working with friends and we were extremely comfortable around them. For couples who’re camera shy, they are a perfect choice and I would happily recommend them. All our photos and videos came out exactly the way we’d imagined.” Adding to the team was makeup artist Simran Thakkar who highlighted the bride’s natural beauty with an array of gorgeous looks.

Weddings Functions

Mehndi
A sunlit function hosted on one of the venue’s lush lawns, the Mehndi was replete with colors as tasseled ropes swayed gently from the tree branches. Also adding color to the decor were elements like rustic vases filled with vivid blooms along with a flower-adorned swing. Dressed in shades of white, the bride and groom stood out from the crowd as they danced merrily along with their guests. Looking radiant in a white and gold lehenga, Tina was all smiles as she walked hand in hand with Guru who wore a mint green floral bandhgala with white trousers.

Haldi
A fairly simple and traditional event, the bride and groom’s Haldi took place separately. The groom’s Haldi, held on a lush lawn had a blue color palette which contrasted delightfully against the surrounding foliage. However, Tina’s Haldi ceremony was held by the beach where the sand rustled between everyone’s toes as they smeared the bride-to-be generously with turmeric.

Sangeet
Shooting up the glamor stakes, the Sangeet was a glitzy affair held outdoors, where the couple along with the guests had the time of their lives dancing to their favorite tracks. With fairy lights decorating the white canopy above them and a spacious dancefloor, everyone put their dancing shoes on and executed flawlessly choreographed numbers for the soon-to-be-married duo.
Dressed in a bright red lehenga, Tina joined in on the festivities too as she twirled around along with her girlfriends on the dance floor.

Wedding
For the final and biggest day of the festivities, the couple decided to make full use of Thailand’s pristine beaches with a serene and dreamy beachside wedding. Equipped with a spacious mandap that gave them panoramic views of the waves, the duo tied the knot in a romantic ceremony decorated with dainty white and peach-hued blooms.

Opting for a traditional bright red lehenga with intricate gold embroidery, the bride was the epitome of elegance as she took a seat next to her groom who contrasted her in an off white sherwani paired with a sage green turban.

Advice For Couples
Tina advises, “A destination wedding can be difficult to manage but, in the end, it’s all about getting the right vendors who understand your vision. Try and get as much sleep as possible and don’t stress the small details. Keep yourself hydrated throughout the functions and just enjoy!”
