How they met
Data Analyst Vinuta and Software Developer Piyush crossed paths during their studies in the US. Their mutual friends repeatedly tried to play cupid, but they took their own time to get to know each other before they started dating. Vinuta shares, “I am a firm believer in equality and hence did not believe in a man going down on his knee to propose, nor have the traditional expectations of marriage. However, I knew that I loved him and wanted to spend my life with him, and we mutually decided to build a life together on our own terms and we got our parents on board soon after.”

Wedding Planning
The couple wanted a cozy, backyard wedding with lush greenery and a veranda-like feel, and they found their perfect venue at Nazarbagh palace outside Jaipur. After scouring through the net and some hits and misses, they found their ideal wedding planner through WeddingSutra. The groom shares, “When I reached out to Nitika from Weddings by Event Crafters, we only had 4 weeks to the day of the wedding. It felt serendipitous as soon as I had my first call with her, and from the very first moment, she took all of the planning and stress off our hands and made us feel at ease. We wanted the beauty of the palace to intrinsically speak for itself, so we were keen on using minimal elements to create a stripped-away decor. It’s one thing to talk about the elements and the pictures, but it’s another thing to see it play out in reality. When Vinuta and I received the final deck, it contained AutoCAD layouts with an exact outline of Nazarbagh to scale with events and their elements highlighted on them. We knew right then what our wedding would look like. Today when I look back, I can’t think of anybody but Weddings by Event Crafter to plan our day, and my only regret is not finding them sooner.”

The couple also entrusted the award-winning team of House on The Clouds to capture every moment of their festivities in vivid detail.

Wedding Functions

Mehndi
The festivities kicked off with a laidback, vibrant mehndi function that gave everyone a chance to break the ice, mingle and get to know each other. Flowing drapes, ribbons, and strings of tinsel in pastel hues of pink, blue and yellow beautifully highlighted the heritage architecture of the palace property. The bride looked radiant in a floral lehenga, while the groom wore a white and green Bandi jacket and kurta set.

Hosted under the blanket of the night sky and fluttering drapes lit up with glimmering lounge lights, the Sangeet ceremony was an exuberant affair full of laughter, music and dance. The bride stood out in a gold and turquoise blue coord set, while the groom kept it suave in a velvet green sherwani as they exchanged rings. Wedding
The wedding was truly a memorable affair where delicate pastel decor highlighted the natural beauty of the lush grounds. The couple opted for soft spring hues of ivory and peach to match the romantic ambience, and exchanged Varmalas under an ancient tree on the property which looked resplendent with hanging lanterns, Edison bulbs, and drapes, before heading to the mandap. A fluttering canopy of green, white and red flowers with foliage hung overhead as the nuptials were performed, while a wall of candles created a charming backdrop behind the couple.

Advice for couples
“Starting early is the key. Try to finalize your decor/planner as soon as you can. Trust them and give them time and they will make it magical. Also, most importantly, try to bring about a change with your wedding, whether it is cultural, social or environmental. Every single change over time will raise the bar for a better future.”
