Aditi and Shravan, Mumbai

This couple warmed up their winter wedding with an ombre decor palette comprising warm peach, pink and white hues.

Aditi and Shravan first met at a party six years ago and then lost touch. But as fate would have it, both of them reconnected a few months later on Facebook. And, as time flew by, they realized the chemistry they shared, and from then on, there was no looking back. Hosted in the ‘City of Dreams’ – Mumbai, their nuptials were captured by WeddingSutra Favorite – Dreamcatchers Photography who captured all the precious moments of this milestone event with creativity and professionalism. Here, bride Aditi shares some highlights of the festivities.

How They Met
Aditi shares, “Shravan and I met roughly six years ago at his cousin’s party, and during the whole party, we hardly shared a word. However, after a few months, we started chatting on Facebook and hit it off instantly. A fortnight later, we met and before we knew it, we were a couple! From day one of our relationship, both of us had decided to take it easy and let destiny lead us where it will.

In retrospect, I feel we made the right decision as everything flowed much more naturally for us. Our friendship slowly transformed into love and when our foundation was strong enough, we took the plunge into marriage.”

Wedding Venue
“From the very start, we knew that we wanted to get married in the open during the Mumbai winter. Our families respected our wishes and after a lot of scouting, we chose The Westin, Mumbai.”

Wedding Planning
Being particular about details, the couple chose to shoulder the responsibility of planning the wedding themselves. Pitching in were their helpful family members who left no stone unturned to help out the duo. Acknowledging the importance of having a skilled photographer on their team, they decided to choose Dreamcatchers Photography and were extremely impressed with the results. Aditi shares, “Team Dreamcatchers were absolutely phenomenal. From the planning and co-ordination to delivery, they were extremely thorough and knew exactly what was required. Their entire team was friendly, professional, and made all of us feel very comfortable. I would happily recommend Dreamcatchers Photography to others too!”

Adding to the team were National Decorators and acclaimed makeup artist Sonic Sarwate and his team who gave the bride one stunning look after the other for each function.

Weddings Functions

Mehndi
A sunlit function adorned with bright marigolds, the mehndi witnessed everyone eager to get henna patterns applied on their palms. Keeping the spirits high throughout the function were peppy beats that urged everyone to show off their best moves on the dance floor. Shravan chose to wear a simple white bandhgala suit for his mehndi function, and Aditi contrasted him in a stunning red saree for her evening mehndi function.

Cocktail
“Our cocktail was the main event since we’d decided to eschew a sangeet. Following a white, peach and pink color scheme, the decor was almost dreamy with the ceiling covered in fury lights that gave the entire venue an ethereal aura. The entry included a pathway replete with glowing candles and delicate floral arrangements. Throughout the night, we danced to the tunes of the saxophone and had plenty of fun drinking cocktails with our friends. Keeping the theme in mind, I opted for a blush gown by Babita Malkani while Shravan chose a navy blue jacket and off white pants stitched by Stan Ahuja Tailoring.”

Wedding & Reception
“We decided to go with minimalistic and elegant decor for the pheras. Our mandap featured a surreal design crafted with roses, carnations, and tuberoses in the hues of white and pink to give off an ombre effect. Several garlands of tuberoses also dangled from the ceiling. To make sure I was completely comfortable yet well dressed, I chose a bright red anarkali with detailed embroidery all over. Shravan, on the other hand, looked dapper in his ivory sherwani. Once the wedding ceremony was wrapped up, we immediately moved on with the reception within the same venue.”
