A divine celebration of Indian heritage, Barkha Naik and Mithun Joseph’s grand fort wedding by WeddingSutra Favorite – Jim Dandy Events was a warm mix of traditions and intimate family moments.

Wedding Planning
While the couple previously took their vows in the US during Covid, they wanted to celebrate their union with a grand Indian wedding before all their loved ones right after the restrictions were removed. A spectacular royal wedding brimming with the flavors of Rajasthan was her dream, and she entrusted its execution to the team of Jim Dandy Events. Talking about the experience, Sona Walvekar, Co-founder and Managing Director, Jim Dandy Events shares, “Barkha’s only focus now was to spend the best days of her life with her family, while all the same, making it a memorable wedding for all. Our perfectionist bride wanted a royal Rajasthani wedding highlighting her roots. Since most of the planning was done while they were abroad, our team would scout locations and vendors while fervently planning details through the day and doing zoom calls with them by night. Her vision of getting married in a royal setting drove us to the Fort Jadhavgadh located on the outskirts of Pune, which she simply fell in love with at first sight! Despite not seeing it in person, she trusted us to create a celebration just as she had envisaged. It was an amazing experience.”

Barkha in turn recounts, “Our wedding day was by the far the most special day of our lives. Sona and her team literally made our dreams come true. From start to finish, I could not have asked for a more dedicated visionary working to make everything happen. It was truly a magical day. From the details of the design to the execution, everything turned out beyond expectations. We coordinated our whole wedding with Sona Walvekar and her team from Dallas, Texas in the space of 2 months and only arrived in Pune a day before the wedding. Despite the challenge of timezones and everything else, they made it happen. Everyone had a great time and created some awesome memories, and we will be forever grateful to Jim Dandy Events for that!”

Wedding Functions
Mehndi
The 2 day affair kick-started with an intimate Mehndi function at home. The simple yet stunning decor was a mix of traditional and modern, with warm colors, brass paraphernalia and an abundance of blooms. A pretty canopy of rajanigandhas and marigolds hung prettily over the bridal seating, where the bride got her hands adorned with beautiful henna designs in the presence of her loving family.

Haldi
The next morning, both families left for Fort Jadhavgadh to start off the wedding shenanigans with an early morning Haldi. Minimal hues of white and yellow softly accented the rustic allure of the Fort, while a lush foliage wall flanked with props of copper and marigold made for a memorable backdrop for the rituals. The couple sat in huge brass urlis as their families anointed them with turmeric paste.

Wedding
Decked in royal splendor, the afternoon Wedding was straight out of a fairytale. Intricate floral designs abundantly decked the Fort, brimming with beautiful traditional flowers such as yellow marigolds, white chrysanthemums, tuberoses and lotus blooms. Dressed in a whimsical white lehenga, the bride walked in under a pristine white Phoolon ki Chaadar made from chrysanthemums and lotus buds, while the groom looked magnificent in a rich green sherwani.

Reception
The festivities came to a riveting close with a starry night Reception party full of merriment. A canopy of string lights and chandeliers set a magical tone for the outdoor soiree, while the couple entered in great style amidst a display of sparkling fireworks. The evening saw cake cutting, emotional toasts and a whole lot of dancing and revelry.
