Bhagya and Naman, New Delhi

Traditional with a contemporary twist, this bride’s mesmerizing wedding look included a bright coral-red embroidered floral lehenga, and multicolored jewelry.

Bhagya and Naman’s love story wasn’t exactly ‘love at first sight’, but, somehow, the duo knew that they liked each other. As college life progressed and the academic challenges got tougher, these two individuals who’d already struck up a strong friendship found love knocking on their door. Five years after dating and cementing their love, Bhagya and Naman chose to tie the knot in a series of stunning ceremonies that expressed their personalities and showcased their rich North Indian culture.

How They Met
Bhagya shares, “Both of us were pursuing our MBA at the same college in Hyderabad and that is where we first met. Naman says that he first saw me while I was completing my registration process, but I first noticed him in class. I still remember trying to locate my seat, as they were assigned to us via roll numbers, and so, when I found it and tried to sit, my chair got jammed. Naman who was sitting right behind my chair very chivalrously pulled it out for me. And then, it was very natural between the two of us as we slowly got to know each other and became good friends. However, the turning point was when he appreciated my presentation in front of the whole class. The same day, he texted me, and then as fate would have it, we also got selected for the fresher fashion show in our college. And, with each session of practice, we grew closer and eventually, realized that we were deeply in love.”

Wedding Venue
“I’ve always envisioned a chilled and relaxed wedding for myself, where my family could just enjoy the wedding without all the running around it usually involves. Hence, the key was to have a relaxed environment throughout all the functions. As my relatives from my mom’s side would be traveling all the way from Chandigarh, we wanted to host our nuptials at a venue where they could also stay. Keeping these points in mind, we started scouting for venues over various weekends with our parents. Four Points by Sheraton in New Delhi was always on my mind and luckily we connected with their banquets manager who very graciously put us in touch with other members of his team. After that, we visited the property, and finalized the venue the very next day! Also, I’d like to add a special mention for their catering team who throughout the nuptials made sure that all of us were served fresh, warm, and delicious meals that kept our spirits high.”, shares Bhagya.

Wedding Planning
For the mammoth task of planning a wedding with a long guest list, the duo chose to rely on experts who would guide them through the intricate process. The first to feature on their list was WeddingSutra Favorite – Get Gorgeous With Ridhi who with her incredible makeup skills highlighted the bride’s natural beauty. Bhagya, who was mighty impressed by Ridhi’s artistry shares, “From the moment I spotted her work on Instagram, I was quite sure that I wanted Ridhi as my makeup artist. Every bride wants to look her best on her wedding day, and Ridhi’s work was absolutely amazing. She is extremely accomplished and proficient at her art. Not only did she manage to give me three different stunning looks for each function, but she also understood my brief perfectly from the start itself. I don’t think I could’ve made a better choice, and I will highly recommend her!”

Adding to the team were hairstylist Anette Lepcha, photographers Nitin Arora Photography, decorators Buds and Blooms, entertainers Jagdish Prakash and Sons along with DJ Chetan.

Mehndi
A colorful ceremony where everyone reveled in tradition, Bhagya’s Mehndi ceremony was decked in a plethora of tints and vivid marigold blooms that contrasted beautifully with the soft yellow hues of her salwar kameez. This beautiful ceremony was hosted both indoors as well as outdoors, and it provided the guests a perfect opportunity to bask in the sun while they got henna patterned on their hands.

Engagement/Cocktail
Amping up the glamour stakes, the engagement/cocktail was a glitzy affair following an off-white and gold color palette. The decor included delicate white lanterns that cast their golden glow over the guests as they mingled under the dark night sky. A floral wreath served as a dreamy backdrop while the couple posed for pictures and mingled freely amongst the guests. Glowing in a silver crop top, a glimmering skirt, and a ruffled stole, Bhagya was the showstopper as she posed next to Naman who looked dashing in a classic tuxedo.

Haldi
Keeping traditions in mind, the Haldi was a simple and boisterous event where both the bride and groom were generously smeared with turmeric. Attended by close family and friends, everyone had plenty of fun teasing the couple as they got their pre-wedding glow on. Dressed in an embroidered yellow salwar kameez Bhagya couldn’t stop basking in the joy as Naman, dressed in a simple yellow kurta and churidar shared plenty of laughs with his friends.

Fusing traditional and modern elements seamlessly, the duo’s big day was a feast for the eyes with its vintage chandeliers, glossy brass bells, and lanterns. Hosted under the night sky on one of the lush sprawling lawns, the wedding despite being grand made everyone feel warm and cozy.
