From a ‘white wedding’ engagement to Rajasthani flavors, Chahat & Sopan’s nuptials fused diverse themes and inspirations
Chahat and Sopan first met in a city where both of them worked but fell in love when they were based in different continents. Their romance deepened over time, and they got married in a beautiful wedding ceremony at Udaipur.
How They Met
Chahat shares, “I hail from a Punjabi family based in Amritsar, Punjab. I had relocated to Gurgaon for work, and Sopan was based there. We met a couple of times through common friends but never stayed in touch. It was only when I was traveling to the US for work, and he was in Russia that we reconnected. We spoke every day for two months and realized we had found a confidant in each other. After we confessed our feelings, we made our relationship official.”
Wedding Venue
“We had always dreamt of having a regal destination wedding. After doing our recce, we finalized the Radisson Blu Udaipur Palace Resort and Spa. As soon as we stepped inside the premises, we couldn’t stop imagining getting married there.”
Wedding Functions
Engagement
Sopan and Chahat’s engagement was a Christian wedding-themed event celebrated at the rooftop of the hotel which overlooked the tranquil lake. Chahat made a marvelous entry walking down the aisle with her father. She wore a brown gown with a veil by Gaurav Gupta. The couple exchanged their vows and rings, and this ceremony was followed by their first dance. Sopan looked dashing in a black tuxedo from Philocaly.
Mehndi
The mehndi was a vibrant Rajasthani themed function celebrating Sopan’s family roots in Rajasthan. Following the theme, lip-smacking local cuisine was served to the guests garnished with the state’s distinctive flavor. Chahat picked a green and rani pink Anarkali jacket set by Neeta Lulla, and Sopan styled a kurta with an ombre blue jacket from Philocaly for this fun event.
Sangeet
Their glitzy sangeet night with a Punjabi touch was a power-packed affair with delightful performances. The bride dazzled in customized red Anarkali with a slit, whereas the groom donned an elegant black bandhgala ensemble
Haldi
The couple avoided the use of colors and water at their haldi function and opted to use flower petals. This event was styled like a floral Holi celebration, and the couple was showered with flowers and blessings.
Wedding
For the wedding ceremony, Sopan, looking like a regal prince, made an impressive entry in a vintage convertible, while Chahat walked to the venue under a beautiful floral canopy decorated with red roses. The stylish couple looked regal in matching outfits; Chahat picked a sequined champagne lehenga with a red dupatta, and Sopan opted for a beige sherwani with a red stole and turban.
