How We Met
“Like every girl, I always dreamt of finding my ‘Prince Charming’ and falling in love. Arranged marriages always seemed like an alien concept to me! It was only after meeting Nishant that I realized it doesn’t matter how you meet a person as long as you meet the right one at the right time. Our arranged marriage setup started with endless Whatsapp messages, and finally, after a few weeks, we decided to meet. Our first meeting was nothing like the typical arranged marriage scenario! We soon got down to enjoying drinks at the bar! It took us two months to commit to each other and we finally got engaged. We have been married for six months and I just love him even more with each passing day!”
Wedding Functions
‘Mata Ki Chowki Pooja’
“We held a ‘Mata Ki Chowki Pooja’ for an auspicious start to our wedding festivities. We hosted it at the Natraj Avenues Banquet Hall in Chembur, and it was attended by my close family and friends. The decor at the venue was kept simple with a floral marigold theme which looked very traditional and beautiful. For this function, I wore a blue anarkali lehenga by Jiya by Veer design studio, because I loved its color contrast, and also wanted to be comfortable during the function.”
Mehndi
“We had a colorful and a very intimate mehndi function at home. Since it was a low-key event, it was only attended by immediate family members who made the occasion even more special by showering me with blessings and gifts. I was really excited to wear an aqua blue ensemble from Papa Don’t Preach by Shubhika who also happens to be my favorite designer!”
Wedding
“The wedding was a simple affair, and was held at the popular Fariyas Resort in Lonavala. We had late afternoon pheras, and our decor for this event comprised minimalist decor and aesthetics which suited our tastes very well. Every girl dreams of wearing a Sabyasachi Mukherjee bridal ensemble on her big day, and my dream came true when I wore a cheery red lehenga with gold embroidery by the ace designer at my wedding. I accessorized the lehenga with a polka jewellery set which paired beautifully with the embellished ensemble. Our reception was held shortly after our wedding rituals and was a fun event. For the reception, I just removed my head veil and opened up my hair into curls for the rocking night!”
Leisure Day Out
“We had a few friends and family staying back with us after our wedding festivities got over. To make them feel special and also to truly relax after our beautiful wedding, we organized a cricket match between the families and also organized a small musical night followed by some chill-out sessions in the pool.”
Advice for Soon-To-Wed Couples
“Don’t get married just because of societal pressure. Find the right person you want to spend the rest of your life with and then decide. Take time to plan your wedding and always keep a budget in mind.”
