Diksha and Vaibhav, Taj Palace New Delhi

Grace, grandeur, glamor and games dominated Diksha and Vaibhav’s gorgeous wedding.

A perfect match, the union of two large families, a royal wedding with a big dose of fun. Diksha and Vaibhav’s wedding was all things bright and beautiful, as you can tell in the photographs by Happy Flashbacks.

How we Met
We met through an arranged marriage setting, our parents chose us for each other. But after our initial casual meetings, we realized we had built the base of a great friendship and as we chatted and spent time with each other, we realized we were in love. It was just one step forward into marriage.

Wedding venue
Our families are large and so the regal, opulent spaces of the Taj Palace in New Delhi suited us best. The hotel’s magnificent rooms and banquet halls were perfect for our two-day celebration. We also loved the hotel’s central location and outdoor areas. The hospitality team of course, was helpful and efficient.

Photography
Anish and Noopur from Happy Flashbacks were a treat to work with. The entire team was great and came up with interesting concepts both at our pre-wedding shoots and for the wedding photoshoot/videography.

Wedding Functions

Mehndi & Lunch
Our colorful mehndi was an ode to our friendship and the shared familial bond. We wanted bright decor to light up the beautiful Rani Bagh Lawns in Taj Palace. So we did and had fun games, nail art, caricature stalls, song, dance, food, drinks and lots of fun. We sure did have a carnival! I wore a beautiful sunset yellow lehenga-gown and floral accessories. Vaibhav looked every bit of a suave prince in his blue brocade sherwani.

Tilak and Godh Celebrations
As we received blessings from our elders at our holy union, our families got together to celebrate with fun-filled Tilak and Godh celebrations. We decorated the Durbar hall with inverted bouquets of roses from the roof and floor length crystal hangings which gave the evening a mystical feeling. It was a dance night out with our family and friends shaking a leg to songs such ‘Dance ke Legends’ and ‘Nache Saari Raat’ sung live by the talented Meet Bros!

Wedding
After having a joyous haldi, tel baan and bhaat ritual with close family and friends, we proceeded to our wedding ceremony. We wanted our wedding venue to have a regal setting. So we had the palatial arches in the background decorated with fragrant flowers. In keeping with the majestic décor, we played royalty; Vaibhav looked like an erstwhile Maharaja in a white sherwani and safa, I wore an embellished red lehenga with gold zari work and matching heirloom jewellery.
