How We Met
Disha and Aditya’s story began when they met each other on an arranged marriage platform. After a few months of conversations, they realized that they were each other’s soulmates and decided to make it official. They chose Vasundhara Sarovar Premiere in Kerala as their wedding venue as it offered stunning views and traditional touches in many areas.

While Disha and Aditya are originally from Mumbai, the groom is based in New York. The couple decided to make the best of their long-distance relationship and plan the wedding festivities themselves. All the planning and talking helped them to get to know each other even better.

The Proposal
Aditya and Disha’s pre-wedding photos were shot at the picturesque Pawna Lake near Pune. From the get-go, Aditya knew that this was the perfect setting for his proposal. After wrapping up a day full of activities, he took Disha on a walk in the woods while their room was being transformed for the romantic proposal. They sat by the campfire discussing how perfect the day was and upon their return, Aditya went down on one knee and presented Disha with a ring. She was surprised and delighted.

Wedding Functions

Swagatam
Disha and Aditya took the traditional approach for the welcome ceremony. Their wedding guests received a true Keralite welcome with the tunes of a ‘chenda melam’ (percussion instrument) playing at the entrance followed by ‘sadhya’ (traditional Kerala lunch) consisting of local delicacies. The bride wore a ‘kasavu’ (cream colored saree with a golden border) and Aditya looked like a traditional groom in his shirt and ‘mundu’ (white sarong-style dhoti worn by Malayali men).

Mehndi Sundowner
After the warm welcome, the couple hosted a mehndi sundowner by the Kerala backwaters. The ceremony’s decor was designed around Disha’s love for beaches, water, and flowers, and the couple also wore floral ensembles which matched the theme perfectly. The bridal mehndi was personalized by Disha herself to depict all the elements that were focused around her and Aditya – their long-distance relationship and her move from Mumbai to New York. The photos from the event shot by Magic Motion Media will give you major decor goals.

Bright hues of pink, blue and sea green enlivened the venue which was lined with street food, coconut water carts, sangria, Jenga and other fun activities. The special seating for the bride and groom was made up of customized cushion covers with the couple’s initials embroidered onto them. The tassel-lined strings that extended from the center of the canopy added to its dreamy charm. The smoke bombs bursting colors, the sound of traditional drums combined with beer pong and other games made the function a fun affair.

Sangeet and Cocktail
Aditya and Disha are travel enthusiasts and had their hearts set on Morocco for their honeymoon, so they picked ‘Escape to Marrakech’ as the theme for their sangeet and cocktail. The decor comprised of intricate Zelij patterns, lanterns and fez hats. Staying true to the emerald and gold color palette of the evening, the bride wore a glittering outfit from Kalki Fashion, and Aditya wore a self-designed green sherwani.

The event began with Disha and Aditya exchanging rings and was followed by everyone dancing. The guests cheered on as the couple performed a ballroom dance on ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran. The bride’s sangeet performance stole the show as she grooved to many Bollywood hits.

Haldi
After an intimate Ganesh Puja the next morning, the families hosted the haldi ceremony and a light-hearted Sindhi ritual. It involved the groom’s clothes being torn by his friends who had a gala time throughout the ceremony.

Pheras
The pheras took place on the same evening, and the decor was a true visual treat. The floral canopy set up as well as the couple’s outfits were in sync with the theme of the ceremony which was based on traditional Hindu rituals. The dreamy amphitheater decorated in hues of onion pink, peach, and ivory resulted in a beautiful ombre effect. Aditya made a striking entry from the backwaters on a boat, and Disha was just as stunning when she walked down the aisle towards the mandap.

Reception
For the reception, Disha donned a burgundy gown while Aditya wore a sleek royal blue suit. The couple made a grand entry as they walked down an aisle with sparklers twinkling on either side. ‘Welcome to New York Soiree’ was chosen as the theme of the event as Disha was to leave India and move to New York after the wedding. The reception decor was western with a vintage and rustic vibe, and the stage was comfortable and cozy with a live band playing. The Polaroid photo wall was a favorite with the guests and pictures from the last two days of festivities were also displayed.

A campfire allowed the guests to unwind as they roasted marshmallows over the fire.
