Ekta and Varun, Amari Galle, Sri Lanka
Evoking feelings of tranquility, these pictures from Ekta and Varun’s destination wedding in Sri Lanka are a soothing treat to the eyes.
Ekta and Varun tied the knot amidst the pristine vistas of Amari Galle, Sri Lanka. A touching affair, the wedding was a sight to behold, enhanced by the picturesque backdrops at the breathtaking venue.
How They Met
Talking about their journey together, bride Ekta says, “We met three years ago at a friend’s party where our friend was trying to get us together. Varun, being himself, was very shy. Little did we know that three years later we would bump into each other out of nowhere and instantly click! Two dates later we knew that we wanted to get married already.”
The Proposal
While Ekta was busy planning for their roka ceremony, Varun was occupied planning a dreamy proposal. After the roka venue recce, he whisked her off to Ski Dubai, a snow-themed amusement park. While Ekta did see it coming, she was still surprised when Varun popped the question right in the middle of zip-lining. Taken aback and teary eyed, Ekta said a ‘yes’, and the rest is history!
Wedding Venue
An ardent follower of Buddhism, Ekta was very inclined to get married in Sri Lanka. A venue recce in the beautiful country introduced the couple to Amari Galle. Instantly smitten by the vibrant yet serene views of the hotel, they knew that they had arrived at their wedding venue.
Wedding Functions
Mehendi
Ekta’s mehendi was a close-knit affair. The ceremony was all about the bride having a gala time with her gang of girls. There was tons of laughing and dancing while they got their hands decorated with gorgeous henna designs.
Cocktail Party
A sophisticated soiree, Ekta and Varun’s cocktail party had a ‘gown and tux’ theme. An indoor party, hosted in the glamorous ballroom of the hotel, this was a glitzy affair that looked like it belongs in a Bollywood flick.
Brunch
To add an exotic vibe to their wedding festivities, Ekta and Varun hosted a Coachella-themed brunch for their guests. Complete with foot-tapping music, tattoo artists and gorgeous outdoor decor, the beach-side Coachella brunch was a relaxed function which guests thoroughly enjoyed.
Sangeet
The sangeet was very traditional and had all the guests dressed in wonderful Indian outfits. The couple performed a spectacular romantic dance, which was followed by fun-filled performances by Ekta and Varun’s friends and family.
Wedding
The outdoor wedding had a pastel and floral theme. Decorated in dainty flowers, the mandap for the pheras was made with elegant drapes. The whole set up made the ceremony look dreamy and surreal. Staying true to the color theme, the bride dazzled in a pastel blue and pink lehenga.

Advice to Couples
Choose your wedding planner wisely. Pick a venue where guests have other things to do in their free time as it makes you and your family relatively free from a lot of responsibilities and gives you an opportunity to relax and enjoy the festivities yourselves.
