How we met
“Ours was a typical arranged marriage, the kind where you don’t know what to expect but then you get the right vibe and you just know. A big hint was that after a few meetings it didn’t feel like an arranged marriage anymore.

Harmeet was born and raised in Mumbai works in the family business. I grew up in Hubli but my mom’s maiden side of the family is based in Mumbai and I’ve travelled to Mumbai frequently, coming to my nani’s house.

On December 3rd 2016, I first met Harmeet at the Lotus Cafe, JW Marriott, Mumbai. We were each accompanied by our siblings but the idea of meeting a stranger with whom you may spend your entire life can be so daunting! I had butterflies but my fears were allayed as soon as we started talking. From movies to fashion, travel to food, friends to family, no topic was left untouched. Our conversation didn’t seem to end with our cappuccinos and lattes turning cold and we just clicked!

It must be true – destiny plays its role and things meant to be, will be. The same evening after we reached home, we said ‘yes’ to each other. Undoubtedly the most wonderful thing I decided to do was to share my life and heart with him.”

Wedding Planning
“Harmeet and I wanted to have a wedding that would be filled with precious memories and be cherished for a life time. We wanted a wedding that balanced fun and playfulness with traditional elegance and with the essence of Sikh culture. With the love and support of our families, we were able to watch our dream unfold beautifully and exceed our expectations! We spread the events over four days so it was more relaxed and fun. The themes, decor, outfits all varied and contrasted with each other.”

Wedding Functions

Ring Ceremony and Cocktail

A European themed decor with white and lavender blossoms was decided for the ring ceremony and cocktail. The Meet brothers and Khushboo Grewal performed that evening where the guests danced for hours to their amazing performances. The bride looked like a royal princess in her sparkling powder pink gown designed by Paresh Rohira while the groom looked dapper in a classic black suit.

Sangeet
The Sangeet décor was all about bright florals and colorful props. The bride looked gorgeous in a pastel colored lehenga from Papa Don’t Preach. The function took place at The Peninsula and the set-up for the function included a mini bar named ‘Peene di Gaddi’ and some stalls for the women to pick colorful dupattas and juttis from.

Anand Karaj
A beautiful and traditional Anand Karaj took place at the Dhan Pothohar Nagar Gurudwara. “We had a Sikh wedding in a Gurudwara and the ceremony was very spiritual. It was so serene and peaceful, I’ll never forget how it felt. The atmosphere allowed our guests and us to focus on the true meaning behind the ceremony.” Harleen looked resplendent in a coral lehenga by Manish Malhotra while Harmeet wore a sherwani with golden details all over it paired with a coral dupatta.

Reception
“We had a Gatsby themed reception at JW Marriott Sahar. Our families and us being enthusiastically involved in every small aspect of the execution, it turned out exactly the way we wanted it to be. It was a glamorous party and to match the mood, I wore a gorgeous red lehenga by Shyamal and Bhumika and Harmeet opted for a classic black suit.”
