Jasvir Kaila and Harjeet Jaggi, Chunda Palace, Udaipur
Phulkari dupattas, fresh blooms and colorful kites - the rich hues of Punjab inspired this couple’s haldi ceremony.
Jasvir Kaila and Harjeet Jaggi’s destination wedding in Udaipur was a lively and vivid celebration where the New York-based duo embraced their Punjabi roots. Right from a rustic ‘pind’ inspired haldi, a sleek Bollywood-flick style sangeet to a serene wedding, WeddingSutra Favorite – Shaandaar Events carefully curated each festivity to the couple’s tastes.
Wedding Planning
Karan Bains from Shaandaar Events shares, “Even though Harjeet and Jasvir are based in New York, their hearts are tied to Punjab. They craved a union that was firmly grounded in their cultural heritage. Hence, they chose Udaipur as the destination. Their celebration included five traditional events—Haldi, Sangeet, Wedding, Reception, and the After Party. The couple was quite specific about their preferences and knew exactly how they envisioned each function.”
Wedding Functions
Sangeet
Inspired by the glitz and glam of Bollywood, the sangeet was a jaw-dropper with its vibrant hues and canopy of fairylights. Hosted under the starlit sky, the couple and their loved ones had a gala time shaking a leg on the dancefloor. They also exchanged rings while their guests cheered them on.
Haldi
Karan shares, “For the Haldi, it was all things Punjabi! The setup looked straight out of a traditional ‘pind’ (village) with a dash of modern elements ensuring guest comfort and on-trend aesthetics. Colorful tassels and phulkari dupattas made for a vivid backdrop resulting in striking pictures.”
Wedding
“The Wedding had two distinct segments – the Baarat and the Anand Karaj. Being proud Punjabis, they wanted the baarat to be a high-energy, exuberant celebration filled with Dhol, Boliyan, and the raw energy of Punjab. The Anand Karaj, on the other hand, was nothing short of heavenly, set around a serene palette of soft pink hues, perfectly complementing a crisp November afternoon in Udaipur.”
Reception and After Party
After embracing traditional elements in their previous events, the couple opted for a contemporary reception. Karan shares, “The Reception, in contrast, was envisioned to be very modern and quintessentially English. Elegance took centre stage with the couple cutting a cake and waltzing for the first time as newlyweds. Following this was the after party which was highly energetic. No timelines or rules were followed here – everyone just let their hair down!”
