Jyoti and Sanjeev, The Westin Hyderabad Mindspace

From nautical elements at the pool party to classy white and gold decor at the reception, Sanjeev and Jyoti's wedding incorporated diverse elements for a truly festive feel.

Jyoti and Sanjeev’s parents played Cupid when both had decided they were going to say ‘No’ to each other even before their first meeting! But fate had other plans for them – and that included a beautiful wedding in Hyderabad a while later. Here, bride Jyoti shares highlights of the celebrations whose memories were captured by WeddingSutra favorite – Infinite Memories.

How We Met
“Our initial introduction to each other was through the profiles which our respective parents showed us. While we were dead against seeing each other, a meeting was arranged, and I flew down to Hyderabad to meet Sanjeev. I had pre-decided that I was going to refuse the alliance, and coincidentally, he had the same thing in mind. Our plans took a backseat when we spoke to each other. He turned out to be a stranger with whom I felt extremely comfortable. To add to it, our parents decided to play cupid. With that, our decision of rejecting each other went out of the window, and that paved the way for our engagement the following week!”

Wedding Venue
“We hosted our wedding at The Westin Hyderabad Mindspace, and the team there did a phenomenal job with all arrangements and hospitality, especially the food.”

Wedding Planning
“Our wedding was planned by Ashwin Rajpal and photographed by Infinite Memories. All our memories, right from our pre-wedding shoot to my ‘bidaai’ (farewell for the bride) were captured by the Infinite Memories team. We shot our pre-wedding photographs at The Leela Kovalam in Kerala, and it was completely worth it thanks to the beautiful location and a fantastic team of great photographers. My makeup artist was Hyderabad-based Ayesha AK. She understood my needs and doubts and deftly gave me makeup looks that were stunning. She went out of her way to make my day great for me!”

Wedding Functions

Sangeet and Cocktails
“With luxuriant drapes and golden chandeliers, the setup for our sangeet was all about elegance and class. At the entrance, we created a canopy and decorated it with Moroccan lamps and floral vines. Inside, we had a large stage with an LED backdrop, and our wedding logo was projected on the walls. For this function, I wore a red gown and Sanjeev opted for a velvet jacket and pants.”

Mehndi
“We used yellow, red and orange in our mehndi decor to brighten up the venue. Drapes, marigold blooms, and gota elements added a very traditional touch to the decor. Some seats had pretty ethnic handicraft covers over them. There was a large swing decorated with marigolds for us to sit on during the ceremony. To match the color palette of the decor, I wore an orange lehenga and Sanjeev donned a red ensemble with a jacket.”

Pool Party
“For the pool party, our decor was inspired by nautical colors. Drapes in blue were suspended from the edges of the venue, and all of them converged as they all came together at the sunken bar inside the pool. We also had a rain dance setup, and this function was hands down the most exciting one we had. I wore a blue gown with fringes on the top and Sanjeev opted for white shorts and a baby pink jacket.”

Wedding
“Our wedding decor was grand and included a magnificent mandap that featured intricate carvings. There are not many times when a girl can wear red without having to worry about looking over the top. Moreover, it is a color that is seen as auspicious for weddings. So it was clear to me that I should wear a red lehenga for the pheras. Sanjeev decided to skip the usual color palette of cream and whites for grooms and opted to wear a blue sherwani instead. The highlight of the pheras ceremony was when I made an entry on a palanquin, and everybody noticed that I could hardly contain my happiness!”

Reception
‘We chose white and golden as the primary colors of our reception. We wanted to create an atmosphere that exuded a timeless appeal and couldn’t think of any other hues that could work better to achieve this. The pathway to the ballroom was lined with large carved out elements, floral arrangements, pillars, and drapes. I had a contemporary silhouette in mind and wore a champagne lehenga with an off-shoulder cape blouse. Sanjeev steered clear of Indian wear and wore a burgundy suit instead.”
