Their wedding had a Rajput theme, and they chose to wed in Kalpana's hometown of Hoshiarpur in Punjab. They hosted their reception in New Delhi. Here, bride Kalpana shares how she and Saurav planned everything from the cute wedding cards to the decor.

How We Met
"I met Saurav at a college festival. I was introduced to him through a friend, and was instantly attracted to his chivalrous personality. We started talking, and exchanged numbers to stay in touch even days after. Since he was is in the Merchant Navy, we kept in touch through emails and texts. He even used to travel cities just to meet me, and that is how our love blossomed."

The Proposal
"He proposed to me at Mumbai's Marine Drive one beautiful evening. That moment changed everything. I said 'Yes', and we have been married for two months now."

Wedding Functions

Wedding
"Since we had no wedding planners, we ended up deciding and executing every nuance and aspect of our wedding from scratch. From choosing the photographers, venue, decor to designing the wedding cards - it was all done by us and our families. Our caricature wedding card was designed by Saurav and I. It was special, distinctive and loved by all. For the wedding, we chose a Rajput theme which had me wearing a stunning rani pink and orange embellished lehenga with a statement necklace and a 'nath' (nose ring). Saurav, on the other hand, donned a gorgeous dull gold bandh gala sherwani, complete with a matching 'safa' (turban) and pearl necklace that made him look like a royal maharaja."

Reception
The reception was an intimate gathering of our family & friends, and was hosted at the Varuna Naval Officers Mess in New Delhi. The decor was kept simple and had minimal aesthetics which beautifully contrasted my bright red and gold Sabyasachi Mukherjee lehenga and heirloom choker necklace and 'nath'. My makeup for both the functions was done by Yogita of Vanilla 69. She made me look very chic and glamorous, and used her skills to accentuate my natural bridal glow."
