Kanchi and Aditya, Mumbai
This bride’s sundowner mehndi was an elegant yet breezy affair with its pastel decor and a live Maggi counter.
Kanchi and Aditya’s love story had a slow beginning, but soon sparks flew after a second meeting. After numerous text messages and a chocolatey proposal from Kanchi, the couple decided to take things to the next level by tying the knot. WeddingSutra Favorite – Dreamcatchers Photography captured each function of their wedding celebrations in stunning frames. Bride Kanchi shares some highlights here.
How They Met
Kanchi shares, “Three years ago, Aditya and I met at a social gathering, but somehow, we didn’t find a chance to interact with each other. However, he called a bunch of our mutual friends to his residence for a house party, and that’s where we instantly clicked. We quickly exchanged numbers and kept texting each other for a while, it was obvious that we’d fallen for each other.”
The Proposal
“Even though Aditya was the first one to confess his love, I was the one who proposed! For the proposal, as cliche as it may sound, I sent a Ferrero Rocher bouquet to his place with a small note that had the question. And just like that, within four months we were engaged! But we had to stay apart for some time as I moved to London to pursue my Master’s degree. Once I came back, we couldn’t wait to start a life together as husband and wife.”
Wedding Venues
Spanning across various locations in Mumbai, the celebrations were held at venues that suited the unique themes of their functions. For a breezy mehndi, Kino Cottage made the cut with its spectacular sunset views. The sangeet was held at Hotel Sahara Star, which was chosen for its fabled hospitality and superior in-house catering. Lastly, the wedding and reception were held at the sprawling JVPD grounds because of its versatile indoor and outdoor spaces.
Wedding Planning
Aiming for perfection, the couple made sure their wedding planning team had some of the most popular names in the industry. “I’ve been dreaming of having a grand wedding since I was little, so everything had to be perfect right from the venue to the gifts.”
On the photography front, the couple was extremely impressed by the sheer dedication that the Dreamcatchers Photography team displayed. “One is always worried when it comes to choosing photographers for one’s wedding. Aditya and I did discuss our plans with a few other photographers but eventually chose Dreamcatchers Photography as we loved their work. After meeting Punit and Ashwini from their team, we had absolutely no doubts. The flexibility and patience that their team displayed were amazing!”
Adding to the team were various makeup artists for each function. “I wanted to get specific and different looks in each function, hence, I chose a variety of makeup artists. Makeup by Mausam was amazing and got my boho-chic look right. For the sangeet, I chose Lekha for a glamorous look. Varsha Gidwani did a fantastic job with the subtle wedding look and a glitzy reception look.”
Being a skincare fanatic, Kanchi chose to give luxury skincare products to her guests. “We wanted the gifts to be personal and one of the main highlights of the wedding was the luxury skincare gifts we gave each one of them. Personalized skincare gift boxes were made by Ojas the Luxury Bath for our wedding, and even the packaging matched the theme of our wedding.”
Weddings Functions
Mehndi
Following a ‘boho-chic’ theme with pastel decor, the mehndi was a glorious sundowner event. “We chose simple decor with pastel hues and had multiple cabanas with pink and sea green elements. The cherry blossom arch overlooking the sea was perfect for taking sunset pictures. Sticking to the sundowner theme, the drinks were free-flowing, and my bridesmaids looked beautiful in flowing pastel skirts. However, the highlight of the evening was the live Maggi counter which everyone flocked to! The guests had fun relishing Maggi by the sea, getting henna patterns applied on their hands, and dancing to Bollywood hits!”
For this occasion, Kanchi donned a sea-green jumpsuit, while Aditya complemented her in his bandhgala ensembles in the same hue.
Sangeet & Cocktail
The fun sangeet followed a blue and silver theme. Kanchi recalls, “We always wanted a glam sangeet, and we got just that with a split LED entrance that set the tone for the evening. The evening was filled with dance performances by our family, a ring ceremony, and cake cutting after which everyone grooved to the tunes of DJ AJ, encouraged by the cocktails and shots.” Keeping the stylish theme in mind, Kanchi wore a sequin electric blue gown while Aditya chose a navy blue tuxedo.
Wedding
Aiming for a minimalistic wedding, Kanchi chose a white and pink color palette for the decor. She says, “We wanted minimalistic and elegant decor for our wedding which is why we chose a mandap with white flowers and drapes. Since I wanted a baarat of my own, my friends and I made our entrance dancing to Punjabi dhol beats right before the exchange of the garlands. However, the rest of the functions went ahead as per Gujrati traditions.” For her big day, Kanchi chose a fushia pink lehenga, and Aditya complimented her in his ivory sherwani.
Reception
Amping up the glamour stakes, the reception was a glitzy intimate event. The bride shares, “We chose to have a floating reception where we could easily mingle with all our guests. A small stage was set up where our families could meet and greet people, along with a photo booth where everyone could get family pictures clicked.”
Showing off her glamorous side, Kanchi donned an ash pink lehenga with pearl embroidery for the evening, and Aditya looked dapper in his black three-piece suit which he accessorized with a pink tie.
