Accomplished wedding photographers and co-founders of Ameiya, Kanika Vats and Suraj Naman’s wedding was captured through the lens of the very company they built together. Their intimate celebration was a heartfelt homage to connection, creativity, and the quiet magic of honest storytelling.
How They Met
As wedding photographers immersed in the art of storytelling, Kanika and Suraj had often crossed paths in the industry while sharing spaces, stories, and the silent rhythm of celebrations. But it wasn’t until a freelance assignment placed them side by side that their journey truly began. “There was instant camaraderie,” they recall. “We both reached for the same frame, trying to capture that one perfect shot. What began as playful rivalry quickly became a comfortable rhythm.”
That shared passion for photography gradually transformed into something deeper. Born out of this synergy was Ameiya.co, their very own wedding photography company—named after the Sanskrit word for ‘boundless’. “For us, it wasn’t just about documenting love stories; it was about telling them with honesty, empathy, and soul,” they share.
Wedding Planning
In true photographer style, Kanika and Suraj envisioned a space where light, emotion, and aesthetics could harmonise. “We chose a venue that felt like an extension of our sensibilities. Hence, we chose a sun-drenched glasshouse that created an ethereal glow,” they describe.
What made the day even more special was the team behind the lens. “We called on the photographers and videographers we’ve journeyed with at Ameiya. They’re more than collaborators. They became our bridal crew, emotional anchors, and silent cheerleaders,” Kanika shares. “They knew what to capture without us saying a word.” The resulting visuals were striking — candid, energetic, and unfiltered.

Their celebration was refreshingly intimate with just one thoughtfully curated event – the phera ceremony. True to their profession, the duo were shooting another wedding right until the day before their own! “We wanted to keep it simple and focus on presence over planning,” they reflect. The bride wore a classic red lehenga, bold and timeless, while the groom opted for a soft beige sherwani that complemented the mood beautifully. Guests were requested not to wear red, ensuring the bride’s look remained the singular pop of colour amidst a sea of understated elegance. “Everyone came dressed not to impress, but to express. That’s what made the day feel like us,” they say.
With a palette of blush pinks and serene whites, the décor was soft, romantic, and minimal. Every decision was rooted in intentionality, from handpicked blooms to carefully curated details. The duo shared, “It wasn’t just an event, it was an ode to everything we’ve built together.”
Advice For Couples
Having seen countless weddings through their lens, Kanika and Suraj believe every love story is unique, and so is its celebration. “We don’t believe in blanket advice,” they explain, “but one thing we always tell couples is this: don’t lose sight of each other.” They go on to add, “The noise of planning can be overwhelming. But stay anchored to what matters, that is, your bond. Choose vendors you trust, simplify your process, and always assign one family member as the go-to for any queries. No one should be calling the bride or groom on the big day!”
