College sweethearts Karishma Vachani & Bhanudey Kanwar tied the knot before their friends and families in an intimate celebration at the bride’s hometown of Pune. Full of memorable moments, their festivities were captured in beautiful, candid shots by WeddingSutra Favorite – KnotsbyAMP.
How they met
Lawyers by profession, Karishma and Bhanudey met as fresh-faced college freshmen on the very first day of law school. Instantly drawn to each other, they became close friends and eventually started dating after a couple of years together. Despite going their separate ways after graduation, they stayed connected against all odds. During a trip to Spain, Prague and Amsterdam with their friends, Bhanudey popped the question in front of the Prague Castle at dusk, to which Karishma responded with a heartfelt “yes!”
Wedding Planning
The couple hosted their intimate wedding of 80 guests at The Westin Pune Koregaon Park, overlooking the river and cityscape. The functions were planned by the two families, while the decor was conceptualized and executed by Event Dynamics. The revelries were captured by the team of KnotsbyAMP. Talking about their experience with them, the couple shares, “Working with them was a fabulous experience. The team was extremely professional notwithstanding the logistical issues of Covid-19, and they were very well versed with the hustle and bustle of Indian weddings. The candid moments and the framing of shots were perfect and the results were stunning.”
Wedding Functions
Mehndi
The festivities kicked off in high spirits at The Market with vibrant decor and upbeat Bollywood music. The couple entered dancing to the beats of live Dholwalas even as their loved ones cheered them on. The lively function was the perfect ice-breaker for the two families to meet and mingle before prepping up for the upcoming revelries.
Sangeet
The glamorous sundowner Sangeet was hosted at the iconic Mix@36. The bride donned a glittering wine colored lehenga, while the groom wore a dapper taupe-hued Jodhpuri suit aptly accessorized with a wine pocket square to match the bride’s ensemble. Cheered on by their loved ones, the couple’s ring exchange was followed by great revelry that included performances, dancing, music and cocktails. The décor was kept breezy and elegant with lights and pastel colors.
Haldi
Hosted at The Market, the Haldi saw a confluence of vibrant prints, quirky props and bright marigold flowers in hues of yellow and orange. The couple wanted to make the ceremony unique and memorable, and so they arranged for a soul-stirring group drum circle by Taal Inc, a percussion ensemble based in Pune. Everyone had a blast engaging in the high-tempo activity that included playing the Djembe, a West African percussion instrument.
Wedding and Reception
In classy hues of white and pink, the wedding was hosted at the rooftop venue of The Lounge at dusk with gorgeous views of the river overlooking the city. A rocking baraat kickstarted the wedding procession leading up to the ceremony, where the couple exchanged their vows under a stunning mandap with a cascading canopy of pink blooms. The delicate decor beautifully matched the bride and groom’s wedding outfits.
