Khyati Mashru and Samkit Shah, JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu

A padel tennis match sets the tone for this fun wedding with a surprise furry addition to the wedding party!

When Khyati Mashru, a marketing professional and the PR head at House of Masaba, tied the knot with Samkit Shah, Head of Commercials at RPSG Sports, the one certainty was that there’d be sports at the wedding. Khyati says, “Samkit had picked up a new obsession during our courtship – padel tennis, and his love for it is unmatched! So, I surprised him with a Mashrus v/s Shahs Padel Tournament. The family instantly jumped on the bandwagon, and before I knew it, our dads, uncles, cousins, and friends (most of whom didn’t know what padel was), were taking coaching to make the tournament that much more special for Samkit.” The match was a huge success and the perfect way to kick off the wedding celebrations!

Bringing all the functions together was the team from WeddingSutra Favorite – The Vow Weavers.

Wedding Planning
For the wedding, the couple wanted to keep each function different in terms of colours and events, and let the personality of each function come alive through the decor.

Khyati and Samkit say, “We had one request for The Vow Weavers—we wanted the wedding to be fun, not just for us, but our families and for all our guests, and they ensured it was done! With their unique ideas and attention to detail – they gave us the wedding of our dreams, I hope you have the pleasure of having The Vow Weavers plan your wedding too! They were absolute magic! With their big smiles and “ho-jayega” attitude, they helped plan our entire wedding so seamlessly. All the comments of us being the most chill and fun bride & groom – we owe it to them being our backbone!”

Grah Shanti and Haldi
After the paddle match, a traditional South Indian grah shanti was held with greens and yellows, to contrast with the orange used for the phoolon ki haldi. The menu was traditional Gujrati to celebrate the culture of the two families.

Mehendi
The team at The Vow Weavers kept the mehendi a fun theme. The menu was nostalgia induced with a candy floss station, gola counter, paan counter. There was also a tarot card reader for guests who didn’t want mehendi. This transitioned into an after party cocktail for the families to let their hair down ahead of the big day.

Wedding
It was an outdoor mandap with limited seating. The bride’s main request for the day was that her pup be a part of the wedding—not just as a name on the card but as a part of the procession, with a lot of special permissions that was made possible and Momo walked the aisle with the bride and her parents.

Reception
The venue had a beautiful outdoor lawn and the fairy lights canapé stole the show. The other decor elements were the mix of lilac, gold and black, with a tall centre table decor and tasteful floral and candles as the overall theme.
